I am able to import the text outline from Bonsai if I export from Bonsai using the attached Bonsai export template. Right now it only handles text (because that is lowest common denominator for OPML).

To use it, unzip the OXT file into "C:\Program Files\Natara\Bonsai".

Pierre, If you can post an URp example with things like dates and priorities that works with IQ, then I might be able to expand the Bonsai export template to cover those items as well

Thanks,
dave

PS, The initial code for this simple Bonsai export template came from dbenjamin (http://www.outlinersoftware.com/archives/viewt/1009/0/opml-export-templ…).

Can anyone provide me with an example URp XML/OPML  file that works with IQ? Then I can use it as a template to create a Bonsai export.
Thanks,
dave

Attached is a working URp OPML file.

Just so I understand. Are you having problems importing from Bonsai or not ?

Hi Pierre,

Sorry I let this slide for so long, I wish there was a way to get notifications on thread updates so I know when some replies. I might have come back sooner.

Anyway, I tested your URp example with IQ. It only seems to only contain text (Item) and URL fields in it. They both imported fine.

But the URp example was pretty basic, so I downloaded UR and made my own example with some more fields. Specifically Begin Date, Date Completed, Due Date, Item Text, Priority. I’ve attached it and you can also view it here - http://pastie.org/1036900.

The only fields I see that seem to be imported from my example file were Item (from text), the hierarchy, and URL. Do you import anything else?

Bonsai has a similar set of standard fields to UR that it would be good to import including body text, due date, start date, complete date, priority. If you were importing those fields also from the UR format (using the attached example as a base) I could update my Bonsai export template to export those fields as well. Then we would have a good solution for both UR and Bonsai.

As background, just in case its not clear, Bonsai does not have native OPML export, they do have an XML format but it’s pretty unique. So there is no “Bonsai OPML format”. Instead Bonsai supports export templates to export in a variety of formats including text, HTML, etc. The first file I have attached above is a basic Bonsai export template for “Bonsai OPML”. Since I wrote it I can modify it anyway we need.

Hi I tried opml export from Bonsai using an opml template I use for carbonfin outliner (for iphone), then import to IQ. This worked fine in terms of the outline with all the levels correct, but no notes got imported, the notes do import into carbonfin OK. This is critical for me as I have alot of data in Bonsai that I need to get out if I am to use this new program Is there something I am not doing? Thank you

Hi Ian,

If you can supply me with a Bonsai export file with notes, I'll make sure the import work well.

I should be releasing an update today (which also contains the EverNote 3 import), so I'll include it.

Thanks!
