Another forum post: I'm obviously craving attention ;)
I've got a Toshiba laptop which has its number pad incorporated into the letter keys, such that if number-lock is engaged, FN (function key) + M gives 0. Now, I use FN+ALT + these numbers to enter ascii codes, which have been working till recently. But now pressing FN+M (0), with or without ALT, has begun to create a new item, which means I can't enter any more asciis. No listing for this in Tools>Keyboard Shortcuts>View all Shortcuts. Can anyone replicate this or know how to get rid of this shortcut? Thanks!

I'm afraid I cant check this for you as I have no laptop...

This probably wont help you, but have you checked the following:
Tools >Options > Prog settings > Other >Add item hotkey
and also
Customise > Keyboard >Item >Add new item (from toolbar's context menu)

- just in case there's something in there that isnt showing in the other list (probably unlikely but you never know)

Thanks, Tom. I checked both, and no listing. I don't know how a shortcut would involve this FN key in the first place.

I guess it a job for Pierre then - he's back early next week I think

I thought I'd report back in case anyone is spending time with this... the problem was simply that my Numlock had become disengaged (I have no key for this, and have to go into a visual keyboard to turn it on and off). I don't know why a new item was being created when this was disengaged, but there's no problem now.

great !
on my (full) keyboard, if the num lock is off, the zero becomes Insert - which creates a new item by default.
I really should have thought of that before now - but I never use it that way myself & so I didnt think of it . . .
