This was mentioned a long long time ago (Performance problems with auto assign rules, inheritance, item deletion. : this comment : http://www.sqlnotes.net/drupal5/index.php?q=node/1488#comment-6532). I think you should be able to reproduce it easily in the DB I sent you (which is still available on "Shared SQLNotes" dropbox foilder).
 
(P.S. : reminder for te long time inheritance bugs too... ;) )

It isn't perfect, but I've improved it significantly. In v0.9.27, I'll be able to resolve this issue (along with other grid related issues)

I know... But there are reasons for that complexity --  it's currently not that quick to remove/add columns at will : it's  easy to do but then there are problems with conditional formatting not following so a grid restart is warranted.
