Have not used IQ in a while and I just installed the latest portable version.  Any idea why all my text is cut off as if the grid is to small to contain it?

OS: Windows 7 64- Bit
Monitor: 2560 x 1600 (never an issue in the past but I mention it in case it is an issue with what appears to be a new grid versus the one when I last used IQ, I have run into a lot of bugs in programs where things don't render properly on a 30")

Thanks

OK, definitely some type of bug.  If I close all the grids and reopen one it is fine.  Then open a second grid and it's usually (always) there again.  Open a 3rd grid and it's usually but not always OK.  But if I close them all and start over the FIRST grid always seems OK.  UNTIL I start clicking through it and expanding the outlines and then it will happen.

DavidH,

Try this:
Menu > Tools > Field Management
Under 'name' column, find field "Item"

On the right you should see General
Under General
see if multiline is checked.
If not, check it,
restart IQ,
Also what font & size are you using?

If memory serves there's also a line height setting somewhere. Never used it so I'll go looking for it.

Important Note :

the multi-line (Word Wrap) option in the field management doesn't have any effect on grids diesplay anymore... Only in the properties pane. Hopefully Pierre will add this info in the field management dialog.

To make your columns Word Wrap in grids, you have to right click on the header (in the grid) and select the option. It's a per grid thing, and you have to set it for each grid. It's better this way since the same field can be displayed differently depending on the context.

Armando, thanks for clarifying. Isn't there a line height? I could swear I saw it once upon a time but I can't find it now. I'm thinking since DavidH may be using a very large font, the lines need manual adjustment.

hmmm... I don't think so. Pierre will probably be able to tell tomorrow.
I use very small font in my grids so I don't have any problem.

But I tried several things and Grid adjusts to proper font size in all cases... except when font and size is set in the general options .
Then I run into these problems.

a- Grid headers don't adjust to the Font size.
b- the grid doesn't seem to adjust at first but as soon as I hover my mouse over it, everything falls into place.
C- If I create a new item, I can't easily see what I'm typing but when I finish editing, cell shows the whole text.

  • Setting Wordwrap for that column will resolve this.
  • In v0.9.25B, I've significantly improved the item height calculation when WordWrap is OFF. It should display correctly unless another column has Wordwrap ON.So in summary, wordwrapping columns determine the item height, if none, it is computed based on the ItemFont field-value
  • In v0.9.25B, I've also fixed the grid header height. It now adjusts to the grid font
