This was a problem for me using my database and my configuration of IQ. To confirm, I tried this on another computer with a fresh install and using the sample database.
 
1. Open the sample database.
2. Go to item 1.1.6.1.4.2.6 (Item text: This will link to an actual Outlook email)
3. Hoist this item using the toolbar.
4. I now see this:
 
User Manual
 Chapter 1: Introduction
  Introduction to InfoQube
  The AddressBook
  The Calendar
  General purpose grids
  Sheets
  Typical applications

I am using all of the default settings that accompany a fresh install.

 EDIT: Never mind (I think). I was toggling hoist when I should have used hoist selected item. But still... This is a bit obscure.

Yes, you've discovered the "secret". I was confused as well & brought it up but was shot down. Take a look @ the other thread for details. Maybe there's a compromise solution.

I don't know how others feel about such a statement, but I don't find that it's a very respectful thing to insinuate considering some even took the time to enter a Mantis issue for that issue you brought up. :(

How about if hitting Hoist, the user would see dialog like that of Map View:

I'm thinking
if user clicks big "H" their assumption is they are hoisting or un-hoisting
If a dialog opens it might offer them
  hoist up one level
  un-hoist (looping back to big button)

 I agree Jan. The "H" should function as a normal hoist. Maybe two other icons on the toolbar (or leave it as a dropdown) would provide the additional choices. I am a bit uncomfortable with dialogues that reference online documents or help files. They appear unfinished or tentative to me.

This is a good modification. However, I think this creation of intermediate dialogues can actually interfere with productivity, This is why I do like the arrow and the big "H,"albeit with some refinement. One click is all it should take. The additional dialogue does make it clearer, but at the expense of responiveness.
