[Feature:Request] when an item is selected*, hitting return would create a new item

when an item is selected, pressing enter/return seems to have no effect
I think it would be logical that return would create a new item below current item with the Item field in edit mode (or the field that has the outline)
I'd certainly like to see that.

Likewise for Control+Enter

* EDIT/ to be fully clear - I mean when an item is fully selected (as in not just the item field selected)

Good suggestion. It is now implemented (next release) [edit] Updated current 0.9.24 pre-rel 7

This enter-new-item command should be either <ctrl><enter> (preferred) or <enter> Less confusion IMHO. Also this seems to work if user is on item rather than any other cell. Don't know if this is by design.

  • It is currently Enter for an item, and Ctrl+Enter for a sub-item.
  • This is only when on the tree-column, by design. In other cells, enter goes in Edit mode, this to ease data entry
