In Ecco Pro, if an item exceeds the column width, it word wraps and all words are visible regardless of whether you select or view that particular item.

I've checked the manual, options, searched through the messages (perhaps missed the answer), but I would like to see my grids/outlines with all of the text while reading. I don't want to have to individually select each item just to read the text.

Perhaps there is something in columns options that I missed.

While I'm on the topic, is there a way for the icons/bullets to appear at the top instead of the middle of an item?

1. Right click on the header and select Wordwrap

2. There are several advantages to having the bullets displayed on top as with Ecco. A while ago, I asked about this. At the time, it was a limitation of the grid. I don't know if this limitation remains.

Hello, Wordwrap : Click on a column header and select "Wordwrap". It's possible that the manual hasn't been updated -- it used to be a field level option (set in the field management dialog)and now it's... "per field, per grid"... Bullets : there's no option to make them appear a the top at this point. But, who knows... Maybe it'll be possible in the future. This is for Pierre to answer. HTH

Thanks for the quick response from both of you. Wish I'd tried that instead of wasting your time. At least I'm not totally nuts. There really is no preference or option. You set wordwrap for every item/field/column that you desire to appear that way?

While it would be nice to have Ecco style placement of the bullets (it would improve readability), the suggestion I made here (http://www.sqlnotes.net/drupal5/index.php?q=node/2230) was implemented. This makes a huge difference, and may be of use to you too.

Nice tip, that's been bugging me. Your right, the doc hasn't been updated. I took a crack at updating the doc, but there is a question now of what "multi-line" does now in field management. Anything?

Good question. I haven't done much testing but it doesn't seem to do anything.

I fixed it in the doc. But that is my last doc update tonight, I need to get back to my real work :)
