Sync with external database

Submitted by james8games on 2012/01/24 22:14
I have seen this question asked previously (http://mantis.sqlnotes.net/view.php?id=1138) but as a multi-user request. What I am looking for is a sync capability for a single user.

The purpose ? I plan to use InfoQube at home and at work. At work, online sites such as dropbox are blocked. So the way I plan to use it is have an InfoQube db on a usb drive, plug-in and sync with the home and office DBs. The other option is copying the entire db but over time the db will get larger and larger and the unncessary copying will just take more time.

There is an option under Sync with external database but it says SQLSynch.xml is absent so I guess this feature is not yet implemented but on the cards. MyLifeOrganized does this very well.
I am using the Portable 0.9.25W5 version.

Few issues with 0.9.25W Portable

I just downloaded the latest beta version of InfoQube and came across a few issues with the UI which I would have expected to work out of the box:
To duplicate these just create a new file with sample data.

1. press ctrl-f, select "Show Details". Type "xxx" without the quotes. Three items are shown. One of them is "SQLNotes supports many types of links Parent-Child..."
and the item name is "This will link to SQLNotes main item". The text in the "Text" column doesn't show xxx. Select all items and select "Show Selected items in Search grid". When you click on "This will link to SQLNotes main item" the HTML pane is blank. Where is the text "xxx" as part of this item ?

2. press ctrl-f. select "Show Details".Type "sub-items". The search results should automatically expand but they don't.

Warning when quitting unsaved

When editing a .doc(x) in the html pane, Infoqube gives a handy warning if you click on another item without first saving the document (and the editor isn't locked on it). Would it be possible to have this warning pop up if trying to close Infoqube with similar unsaved material? It seems the MS Word editor doesn't have the same autosave fallbacks as the standalone, which I have now learned the hard way too many times.

edit: Neither is there a message when closing the html pane before saving.

how to copy tli and subs to another location

Submitted by jimspoon on 2012/01/16 22:21
How do I copy a TLI & subs and replicate it in another location?  I tried to copy a TLI and subs, and paste the copy to another location, but I did not succeed in replicating the suboutline in the new location.  If I hit Ctrl+C on the TLI, pasting it inserted only the TLI, and not its subs.  On the other hand, if I expanded and highlighted the entire suboutline, and then pasted it - the entire suboutline was inserted into a single item.  So how do I do this to get the desired results?

sorry to ask such a noob question!

POSSIBLY IMPORTANT - Hide column command has the clap

Submitted by jan_rifkinson on 2012/01/13 16:04
In an existing grid that you don't care about
in which there is a column filter in effect
right click on the title of a column you want to hide & click hide column
and tell me what happens

Here the item field disappears
If you add a column after that, that column is set as the outline column
it's ugly

Problem opening file - resolved, but wondering how :-)

Scenario is that my database wouldnt open.
I hadnt made a backup on program close, so I didnt want to revert to previous backup unless I had no choice.
But I thought I'd try the previous backup to see how it looked/worked.

I renamed my original IQbase.
Then I renamed my backup to my original file name (i.e. I stripped out the date and corrected the extension) and moved it into the same folder as the original.
The newly renamed backup opened fine
I then opened the renamed original, it opened fine.

Then I removed the backup, and reverted the original file to it's original name.

timetable for release of Infoqube?

Hi Pierre,

I have been following Infoqube's development with great interest for several years. I like Infoqube and the idea behind it and I am the happy owner of a license. I was an avid user of EccoPro for 10 years. But EccoPro is seriously out of date and has a fair amount of glitchiness. I know you are extremely busy but I am made bold by the program itself. It is VERY interesting and potentially  an all encompasing PIM for my business, and for people like me.

I am not a programmer. My children are, but I am not. Infoqube remains just a little bit beyond my ability to completely understand. I was able to master EccoPro, because it's programmers always intended it to be a PIM for common consumption.
