Starting Questions

Submitted by David_H on 2014/12/15 01:38
I am about to give IQ another twirl.  I have some memory of it from when I used it several years ago so i should catch up pretty quick.  Like most users, I'll be customizing it heavily to my needs.  It'd be nice to start out with some sample data just because it also includes some grids to get started with.  On the other hand, if I start to use those, do they contain a lot of settings that I'll ultimately have to dig through and adjust/delete etc.?  Any reason not to start with the default grids, or should I just start fresh even though it'll mean more time before I can use it.

Thanks for your thoughts.

GUI question with source bar

Submitted by Jon on 2014/12/11 08:01
You can see a drop down box on the right when the source bar is hidden. Clicking on the down arrow activates a blank drop down. Is this supposed to be displayed?  If I click on the icon to the right of the drop down bow (the one to activate the source bar), everything seems to work as normal. Using the menu to activate/deactivate the source bar has the same GUI behavior. So my questions - is this box supposed to be there when the source bar is hidden? What is its purpose?

Using 34 portable running under Windows 7 64 bit Professional.

Multi-Select List Options for a Field

Submitted by David_H on 2014/12/09 17:17
I'd like to create a couple of fields/columns for applying attributes to items, I would want to choose only ONE item for each column from a multi-select list.  Something like this:

"Item Type"
  • Action
  • Information
In other words, Item Type would be a column and Action OR Information would be the possible selections.  What would be the best way to do this.  I don't need complete directions, just an explanation of what function in IQ would be best to accomplish this and I'll read the documentation from there.

Thank you in advance.

Synchronisation to an external SQLite database

Submitted by gregory on 2014/12/09 10:29

I am trying to reproduce the work done notably by LucasD some years ago when he successfully integrated InfoQube with the SQLite database which underlies the Zotero reference management system.

The problem which I wish to report is that when I attempt to synchronise my IQbase with that SQLite database, absolutely nothing happens. There is no error message but nor is any data imported.

Unable to edit text in HTML pane

Submitted by Tom on 2014/12/02 13:18

If I write some text (or paste some text) in the HTML pane, move focus, and come back - I'm unable to edit.
I rarely use the HTML pane,
so maybe I'm missing something? But even then seems wrong...

Tested on Win7 x64 -- with a fresh portable IQ install (34A) -- with new sample file (with content)
EDIT //
forgot to say - still using IE9 (which is fully up to date)
