Filter/Select Anomaly

Submitted by WayneK on 2017/09/28 19:36
More an oddity than a problem:

1) Start with one item selected
2) Apply column filter
3) Select one of filter results
4) Turn off column filter

Result: the selected filter item is still selected, which is correct behavior, but InfoQube also randomly selects 1-3 other items.  I can't find any pattern to it.  It's never the item you have selected before the filter, which would at least make sense.

First started noticing it when I'd filter for an item then hoist, until to find that several other items get hoisted, too.

Freezes in some situations

Submitted by Armando on 2017/09/24 20:37
Hi,

I've been using 103 a bit more in the last few days -- had MS Word related work to do -- and I've experienced many freezes in these situations :

- adding items to a parent through the tagging/marking system
- loading a grid (seems to be related to the outline "normal" display mode)
And other situations I didn't record.

If I open task manager during those freezes, CPU core is maxed out and memory use for IQ is like 2MB, and slowly increasing

Reverting to 102 seems to fix the freezes.

I can,t really give more details now.

Thanks

Can't get grid filter to work

Submitted by WayneK on 2017/09/24 11:25
I can't get the grid filter to work at all.  I've read the help multiple times and have tried every setting in Grid>filter but it doesn't find what it should find.

While taking notes I came across a source that I think I've already copied into InfoQube.  To check, I tried filtering on a keyword in the source.  The filter found no occurrences in the grid even though I know it appears dozens of times.  I've tried many different keywords to test filtering and I just can't get it to work correctly.

1) Many times it returns no hits even though there are dozens of hits in the grids.
2) Other times it returns a random set of hits that represent only a small percentage of actual hits in the grid.

Any ideas on what I can be doing wrong?  I want to see only items containing the keyword (items and subitems) and have it currently set to Grid>Column Filter>Filter items a

Column header bug

Submitted by Armando on 2017/09/23 22:46
Hi,

Column header alignment changed here to mimic field data/cell alignment. So what it does is that half of my column headers are unreadable in many grids.
(Since many are narrow and have an icon + text, I see the end of the text instead of the icon; Or, some fields have long names and all I see is e.g. "ois....", you know stuff like that )

I didn't change a thing. It just happened.

The solution is to click on each header to change it, but it's incredibly long and painful as sometimes IQ freezes - not sure why.

Is there a way to fix this without having to reformat all column headers manually?

Thanks!

(Didn't notice that until now -- haven't used all my grids for a while. Don't know if it happened with 103 or 102)

new view: Miller Columns

Submitted by DONLEONE on 2017/09/23 09:52
Hello Pierre,

have you ever thought about
creating a new "Miller Columns" view?

such as demonstrated here:

because this type of navigation eliminates the need for so many open panes (of which i have a lot)
while yet retaining the simplicity to have an instant one-click deeper drilling go-to anywhere you like.

then this ability coupled with the excellent cloning of IQ
that can make any parent be found in a child again
would make navigation deeper so simple
while yet retaining a great categorical overview.

and there is NO software or file manager on Windows
that can currently do this anywhere at all

Edited Filelink loses link 'style' (minor)

Submitted by Tom on 2017/09/21 16:03
Minor formatting problem with edited file links (a bug imo, but there may be a logic to it (?))

Create a file-link item -- I use drag n drop file to IQ, use filename as text, e.g. Filename.ext
If I edit the item:
  1. adding text to item works as expected - link stays underlined blue, other text is normal (black)
  2. if I remove any of the text in the file link, (e.g. remove '.ext' in above example), it changes to 'normal' text i.e. blue and underlined format disappears, text becomes black

Shortcut to strip Back-Color (or open dialog)?

Submitted by Tom on 2017/09/21 07:32
I dont see any way of adding shortcut to Back-color for an item. It's one I use a lot...

menu: Item >Back-Color is not on offer in the Customise /Keyboard tab
I do see it in Commands tab (under All Commands), but still unable to add shortcut

Any chance of a shortcut (preferably customisable) that will either:
  1. strip the background colour from focused item, or,
  2. simply open the Back-Color dialogue

suggestion - edit script files

Submitted by puremoxie on 2017/09/15 15:37
Since you are already using the codejock syntax editor control, I think it would be great if that could be used to view/edit other types of script files in the HTML pane, such as PHP, CSS, JavaScript, Python, etc. I imagine setting the file extensions that open as plain text scripts in the editor would be the way to go.

This would be useful to me as a web developer because I could organize source code in a conceptual outline, include code items under task items, search for functions/snippets from within IQ, etc.

New file, new instance

Submitted by Tom on 2017/09/15 07:01
New file, new instance:
I see IQ now correctly opens a new instance when a new file is created

But, if I open IQ without any file, and create a new file, a new instance of IQ is opened.
I end up with new file in one, the other empty.
