Linux again - anyone successfully running in Wine or Crossover?

Submitted by cicerosc on 2019/08/29 22:55
Hello again.  I continue to want to embrace Infoqube as my Ecco replacement, but I cannot go back to Windows.  I tried today to install the latest Infoqube into the latest Crossover in a Windows 7 bottle.  The install seemed to go ok, but every time I tried to open the program it crashed weirdly, apparently unable to open or create a new infobase, even from the templates.

I can report back with more detail of the error but thought I would ask first whether anyone is running successfully in Linux or whether developments in the last year have made that impossible.  Seems like when I was trying this about a year or two ago I could at least get the program to open a sample database.

Settings for best IQ experience

Hi IQ Users,

I thought it would be useful for all of us share settings that ensure the best experience

I'll summarize comments and update this post.

1. Performance

  1. Make sure Memory integrity is check is off (in Windows Defender > Device Security > Core isolation)
  2. Run as Administrator: Grid refresh (F5) : 0.37 sec --> 0.30 sec (190 items + Gantt)
    • Drag-drop files / URL from Explorer / Web browser no longer work however (security level). Use Copy / Paste from Explorer instead
  3. For very large databases with complex filters Windows may flag the app as "not responding". You can increase the delay using this Registry tweek

2.

Word wrapping vs. special characters

With word wrap in a grid there is a slight issue with special characters (like opening brackets) being left at the end of a line with the word following the bracket being wrapped to the following line. I can 'achieve' this by adjusting the size of the column to the right. I think the screenshot illustrates this sufficiently.

Calendar Views bugs/inconsistencies

1) when I change views, the entries/items stay in month-view display style. I require a refresh to get them to show correctly.
This happens almost always in all views. Version 'g'

2) this more an inconsistency:
if I am in week view and click on a day in the mini-calendar, the view changes to day view, but week view icon is still highlighted above. A very minor thing.

3) this mentioned before (I believe you said it was a feature, but is very user-unfriendly as it currently is):
Say the calendar is showing July and I want a couple of months later: I click a few times on the right-arrow of the mini-calendar and instead of moving forward say, four months for four clicks, it takes of into future months at speed.

Best way to clone calendar items?

Submitted by LeftEccoForIQ on 2019/08/22 03:14
Say I have the same type of scheduled appointment on three separate dates (e.g. a meeting or training) but it doesn't recur regularly. Hence what I wanted to do was, after I created the first item, to clone it twice and move the clones to their respective dates. However, I couldn't figure out a convenient way to do this. Thanks!
