Google Tasks Integration (and other Todo-like services)

Hi IQ Users !

First wishing your a great year 2020.
(I can't say that it started very well... our world is in such a exasperating state right now , but one can hope that things will improve in the coming months)

As you probably know, I've been working on v115 which will bring Google Tasks integration.
Conceptually, it is quite a bit simpler than Google Calendars, though there are a few caveats to work with.

1. The concept:

  1. Each task is an item
  2. Task properties map to standard IQ fields (Item, Due, Done, Notes, etc)
  3. In Google Tasks, tasks are organized under task lists.

Calendar navigation

I'd prefer for the toolbar left and right navigation buttons for the calendar to jump by the number of days set as the calendar mode, e.g. to jump by three days rather than one when I've selected three days to be displayed simultaneously or a whole week per click in week view. If I want to move a single day, I can always use the mouse wheel to do it. It's what Ecco does and it seems more efficient to me. Cheers!

monthly repetition on 29th / 30th /31st not occurring in months with fewer days

Submitted by LeftEccoForIQ on 2020/01/18 15:52
This is an issue as there is no 'last day of month' option. As it is currently, if I set up an event for montly recurrence, say on the 30th of each month, it will not occur at all in February. If it's on the 31st, it will be missing from any of the shorter months. I guess, anything recurring on the 31st should recur on the last day of each month. And anything recurring on the 29th / 30th should also recur on Feb 28 (29). Thanks!

Related items duplicated

Many related items appear duplicated in the grid (and sometimes even "triplicated"), but not in the properties pane.
Not sure how to reproduce this, it just happens, and not for all links. (For what it's worth : my related items are created using the "add as related items" function that uses marked items.)

Here's an example of what I see :

I tried :
- refreshing the grid
- compacting and repairing the DB
- restarting IQ

Thanks!

DocPane losing focus when interacting with external apps

Hi,

As shown in the screencast (http://bit.ly/39Zhupy), DocPane is losing focus when interacting with external apps.

In the screencast I exemplified using an AutoHotkey menu with scripts to (a) send text into IQ DocPane, (b) getting text from IQ DocPane and send to MSWord.

'Related Items' as an enabler

Submitted by Paul_J_Miller on 2020/01/04 06:47
I have been busy recently re-organising my notes so I haven't been posting much.  This is a long task and it isn't over yet.  The thing which triggered this post is the fact that Pierre recently posed the question of whether the 'Related Items' feature was of any use or benefit, this question came up in an unrelated post and my answer was that it was useful and was of benefit.

However this question deserves a more complete answer.

The 'Related Items' feature is in my view essential as it enables the Zettelkasten method to be implemented.  This article should illustrate how important this is.  The article explains the Zettelkasten method and from this the importance of 'Related Items' should become apparent.  Another feature which wo

Item entry bug

Periodically, wen I create a new item and start to enter information, the first letter I type is visible, but then disappears So in essence I am unable to create a new item as each letter typed disappears. If I close IQ, go to Task Manager, I usually find open instance of Infoqube either in the Apps section or I find one or sometimes two Infoqube processes open in the Processes section. Once I close these, I can re-open Infoqube and it works again I may be wrong, but I think this occurs predominantly when I have left IQ open, but unused, for a while

Forum search best practices?

(edit 2020-04-11 removed google from the title)

Does have anyone have tips for better searching in the forum, now that it's google-based?

For example, if I want to search for info on home pages, is there a better way than this?

site:infoqubeim.com "home page" 2019
(then do this for 2018, and on back)

If there an effective way to only show results for just for forums, or for just the manual?
