Thanks, Pierre.

Is there ANY advantage to using IE9 for IQ?
I use FF for browsing.
Maybe I'm gun shy after my last experience using IE9

I hardly use IE anymore either, so I'm not in a good position to know if IE9 is worth upgrading. It does seem to be much leaner and faster than previous versions...

Very useful additions and fixes. Thank you.

The file menu opens by default on my install. This does not happen if I have enabled the option to load the last file on start-up. Is there any way to turn this off so IQ starts normally?

EDIT: I see this behavior exists in past versions too (I am referring to the open file menu). I don't like it as it seems inconsistent with other programs. I think I intuit it's purpose, but to me it looks like an error, or something unfinished.

This is by design, as a simple and consistent way to access the recently opened IQBases.

I realize other programs aren't doing it this, but I really like the idea and am using it all the time...

Give it a try...

I personally like it. Yes, it's not "standard", but I immediately got its use... True, in other apps, this is usually implemented as a list of files in a dialog (sometimes the dialog offers other options (open, create new file, etc.). Maybe some day that would be a better alternative, but... At the same that dialog just duplicates what's in the "File" menu.

I don't see how this affects negatively my current work flow in any way ... It actually has a positive impact...So... :)

Hi IQ Users,

Included in v0.9.25W3 :
  • New ! : Recent Grids: Shows the list of grids ordered by last time they were opened.

Pierre,  not to appear ungrateful but what was your thinking here.
Although not dynamic, what's the difference (except for recent order) with this & selecting from grid tabs which can also be put into a basic order

For me it might be useful if I could check off multiple selections in the drop down menu & open a bunch of grids at once
or if this leads to
saving a view with all recent / last grids selected.
that would be useful, too.

Thanks.
Jan

 Hi Jan,

>what was your thinking here.

Recent File list vs Recent Grid list: Same concept, but within an IQBase.

The idea is that if you have many grids, the ones you work on more often will be right there, right on top of the list. Plus, it help remember what one was doing in a previous session.

I've been wanting this for a looong time, so I'm really happy to have gotten around to doing it !

For me, the main attraction there is that it quickly shows me which grids were last opened. It's a welcome addition IMO. That plus... it costs nothing.

I think there are a few suggestion along those lines in Mantis somewhere.... Let me look for it...

Here:

0374 Open ALL last opened grids.

0294 Per Grid independent UI configuration (pane positions, etc.)

Note that many seemingly unresolved issues/suggestions have in fact been resolved... It's just that some Fall (winter?) cleaning needs to be done there... ;)

FYI for folks, there also is a "Grids" button you can add to toolbars that shows them in alphabetical order. It's not visible by default, you have to add it using "customize". I find it much more useful than the tabs now that I have more 12 of them...

I completely agree.  I press ctrl+shift+o, type the first letter and "Enter". That's it. Much quicker and less intrusive. I off course would like a better search as you type functionality built in the grid menu.

See :
Update Issue0150 An enhanced "Grids" menu/button to open grids more quickly

Some great fixes!

For some of them I think there might be more tweaking, I have commented on them in their respective threads. Also...

  • New ! : Recent Grids: Shows the list of grids ordered by last time they were opened.
I added Recent Grids to -- link to nonexistent node ID 809 --.

  • New ! : Export Field Equations: Shows auto-assigns, row and column equations and dependant fields.
I added this to the errata at Field Management Dialog - Equations
