 Hi iQ Users,

This are moving swiftly here at the iQ Headquarters...

So, I'm happy to say the the v0.9.26Pre-Rel1 will be soon available.

This version is centered on Calendar enhancements. First step in this direction is a brand new UI to create / edit events, very Google-Calendar-like.

We'll keep updating this thread as information becomes available.

sync w google calendar?
Why would one convert a virtual (repeat) item to a real item? Don't understand usage.

yes... new UI first, then implement sync with Google Calendar (requires new UI)

Why convert to a real item ? to add field values, HTML content

e.g. During or after a meeting, can add meeting notes, actions to the item. While just a virtual item, the values / html are those of the first occurrence

Got it. Thanks Pierre. EXCITING for me to see all this !!!

Here it is:

Highlights:
  • Date / time: Single-click brings up mini-calendar or list of times. Day of the week is automatically updated
  • End date is only shown when relevant. Click on the calendar button to show / edit
  • Supports unscheduled events (an iQ concept)
  • Full support for recurrence
  • If it is a recurring event, option to convert to a real item, so specific field values and HTML can be added
  • If it is a recurrence exception, option cancel the changes and return to the series
Still to be implemented:
  • Multiple calendar support
  • Reminders
  • View / cancel deleted recurrences
  • Repeat summary (à la Google Calendar), such as "Weekly on Thursday, until Jun 21, 2012"
Hope you like it !

The same as now ...

It appears at the top of the calendar but retains its duration

Another way of saying an all day event?

Not quite...
  • An all-day event is just that... all day
  • An unscheduled event still has a duration (be it 1hr or 3 hrs). It's just that one did not bother to specify when it actually took place. Often nobody cares at what exact time something was done. What matters is that it was done during that day.

OK, got that part but how does it show up as a duration w/o a start time. And how does one enter a duration w/o a start time.

Hi IQUsers !

I'm back at work on InfoQube and working on v0.9.26Pre-Rel1.

The focus will be on the new Event UI. To help transition and in case of bugs, users will have the choice to use the new UI or the old one.

It's coming along nicely, so you should see an update in a week or so.

Undergoing final tests of v0.9.26Pre-Rel1. It includes:
  1. New Event Add / Edit UI -- Huge improvement over the current "Outlook-like" UI

 Looks good Pierre

I dont understand the virtual vs. real (and wonder if the terms are helpful)

Virtual = Recurring
Real = ??? would that make the item non-recurring?

but then I havent been using the calendar so far - is it related to whether the item shows in a grid or not ?

Pierre, looking good.
May I humbly suggest something at this stage:

from this dialogue -- somehow:
the ability for the user to assign fields
the ability to make it a due date or an appt
the ability to add reminder or not

Thanks for your consideration

Yup, quite correct. A few things to add to the dialog
  1. Select the Calendar
  2. Reminders
  3. is meeting, is private, etc
And yes eventually some additional, IQ specific features (fields, etc)

Probably on list somewhere.
1. Drop down  for date a calendar
2. Drop down for time a clock, ala Ecco (I'm mouse-centric)
3. Easy way to add address book entry as appt and record appt time as sub item for address book entry.

The first version of the new Event UI is completed. Final tests are being performed. So expect v0.9.26Pre-Rel1 real soon !!

Features are:
  1. Drop-down for dates and times
  2. Event and recurrence info on the same form
  3. Supports Minutes, Hours, Days and Weeks for reminder units
  4. Color-coded drop-down for event label
  5. Simplified recurrence settings
  6. Updating a recurring event no longer deletes all exceptions. Most event settings are now also applied to exceptions
  7. For exceptions, option to undo the changes and return it to the series
  8. When modifying an exception, recurrence information is hidden
  9. Prompt on when modifying a recurring event is shown when saving (before was shown before editing)
With respect to the original "Outlook-like" UI, this UI, similar to Google Calendar, greatly reduces the number of clicks and editing steps.

HTH !
