Hello, everyone. I'm a long-time Ecco Pro user giving InfoQube another try after seeing new posts about it on the Outliner Software Forum. I've tried it a couple of times in the past but I didn't fare well. I'm determined this time to give it the effort it deserves. I've spent probably 30 hours working through the tutorials and forum posts. I've tried to bite off something I can manage, so I've avoided getting into advanced filtering at this point, and I don't have a big interested in calendars and Gantt charts. I want to use InofQube to take research notes and perform various filtering and sorting operations.
I decided I was ready to actually start using it to see how it would go. I quickly ran into trouble with grid behavior. I know I'm not the first person to have this problem or raise the issue. I think it's likely the single thing that's most likely to scare off new users. It's an unsettling feeling to see your work suddenly disappear (even if you know it's not really gone).
I started out very simply: just a single item column with additional notes in the HTML pane. I wanted to drag a link from my browser to the HTML pane. As my cursor crossed the InfoQube window all my grid items suddenly disappeared. I did not click on anything, did not execute any commands, and did not perform any operations. The items just disappeared on their own while I was dragging the link across the screen. It took me about 30 minutes to figure out how to get the items back. I didn't document this step by step so I can't tell you everything I did but it was pretty frustrating to get it figured out. On the upside, it did help me understand grids a little better.
I had another incident a few minutes ago, and this time I took notes on what happened. I created a new grid "Fin" and was making notes in the items column, and adding notes to the HTML pane, as before. This time I found a snippet on the web that I wanted to add to my notes. I selected a passage in Firefox, clicked on the infoQube tool
"Copy Content to InfoQube" and selected "add to current grid." Once again, all my items disappeared and were replaced by new items. It appears that the source was changed from "Fin" to "Financial".
I thought I could use what I'd learned before to restore the grid. All I had to do was change the source box from "Finances" back to "Fin". I couldn't do that because "Fin" was not listed in sources. So I went to View>Grids>Manage Grids>Data>Source. Once again, "Fin" was not in the source list, so I was unable to restore my items.
So then I went to the properties pane and saw that "Fin" was listed. I did right click>Show items with values for this field. That displayed my items, but they were in the Scratch grid, not the "Fin" grid.
At that point, I returned to View>Grids menu and this time I did find "Fin" in the source list, and that solved the problem. I have no idea why it wasn't there before. The only thing I can think of is that maybe I needed to do a refresh in there somewhere.
So the summary of the problem is: 1) Why would dragging a link to the HTML pane cause my items to disappear? 2) why would pasting a clip into the current grid cause the source to change? 3) Why wasn't my new grid listed in the sources when I tried to fix the problem caused in step 2?
It's a fantastic program and I love the power and flexibility but I'm starting to feel snakebit about the grid behavior.
Thanks, Wayne

Re the Source - it may try to autocomplete, but normally you can abort that using backspace key.
1) I cannot reproduce either
2) as Armando says, could you give more details there
3) sounds like one for Pierre
