After a break of a couple of weeks I'm working with IQ again.
I'm confused with the Omnibox / Find situation
(working with Pre-Rel47)

Instructions for updating older portable installs were to:
  • delete the Search toolbar and
  • remove the Ctrl+F shortcut from Find (menu: edit >Find)

I seem to have already deleted the search toolbar (dont see any)
I deleted the Ctrl+F shortcut and now nothing happens.

When 'Find' has the Ctrl+F shortcut, I get this when clicking Ctrl+F :

I'm wondering:
  • how to get the Omnibox working via shortcut?
  • does the Omnibox completely replace the find as shown in screenshot

Thanks in advance!

Hi Tom !
  1. re Search toolbar: Yes, it appeared in a recent version, so it is quite possible that you don't have it
  2. re Shortcut: Did you assign the CTRL+F shortcut to the Omnibox ? You can also reset all shortcuts which should get you back on your feet
  3. re Seach: The Omnibox will open the find tab if the search string is not (1) a grid and (2) an IQ command

HTH !

No, if I reset all shortcuts I lose custom sohrtcuts :-(
And:
  1. I cant find omnibox under shortcuts
  2. I just remembered the right-click the Omnibox trick when the customise box is open:
when I do #2:
it does not accept the actual Control and F keys
it does not accept the text CTRL+F
(btw it is currently set as Alt+4 which works but would like to change if to Ctrl+F)

Is there another way? or is this somehow broken?
TIA

You can:
  1. view your custom shortcuts. Delete Ctrl+F if present
  2. Reset shortcuts
  3. load custom shortcuts
I'll check as to why the Omnibox is not in the Customize list. It used to be...

It is listed, but not as Omnibox. It is called Search Box.

It is not there in keyboard shortcuts. But, you can assign a shortcut using:
  1. Open the customize dialog
  2. Right-click on the omnibox
  3. Enter "Ctrl+F" in the shortcut text box and press Enter
  4. Close the customize dialog

that was part of the problem - I possibly should have mentioned the word bug - but I just checked and cannot reproduce it in Win.8.1 with a clean portable install

so, for some reason that's broken in my main machine with my regular portable 'install'.
I'll look at that machine again tomorrow & report back ...

There you go - it works today in my main (portable) install :-/
Go figure.
I guess it just needed a restart ...

 Fixed in the next version:
  • Menu customization: Right-click on a control did not show the keyboard shortcut
