I did a Ctrl+F search for "handbrake".

Three items turned up in the "binoculars" tab.

Clicked "Show items in the Search Grid".

The items did not show up in the Search grid.

An unrelated item shows up in the Search Grid instead

From binoculars tab, I tried clicking on one of the items shown in Properties Pane > Item Info > Children

This brought up an unrelated item in the Scratch pane. (IDItem=48162)

Did the IDItems get screwed up somehow?

I did move my Dropbox folder because my SSD was full, had to make some space on the SSD. But that shouldn't affect the internal integrity of the .sndb file?

How to diagnose or cure?

create a new backup - I've never had a problem with 'Repair' but backups always good. NOTE: do not let IQ overwrite any of your older backups - depending on your setup, there's often a couple in same location as your IQ file (with different file extensions).

try the following:

menu: Tools >Database Management >Repair

If that doesnt help, I suspect it's one for Pierre

(or you could try one of your recent backups)

I was not able to reproduce it but I don't think this can be due to some form of corruption

If you still have the issue and is linked to a specific file, please send over the file by email (remove any personal information if need be) and I'll try to reproduce it.

Hi Pierre, I am syncing my "main.sndb" file over two or three computers, so I copied a well-behaved version of the file over the misbehaving version, and so all is well now.

I might be able to recover the misbehaving version.

In such circumstances, it might be useful to have some way of replacing the real text in the file with Lorem Ipsum or something like that. Something that would preserve the problem for diagnosis.

If you're a little patient, you can also show all items in a grid (set hierarchy and context parent off first), select all items and change the item's text in the properties pane.

The problem re-occurred, but I may have it fixed now. I think I may not have had Dropbox sync properly set up. I changed the locations of my data files, backup files, and sync files, and changed the pointers inside the sndb file accordingly. I just tried out a "Show Items in Search Grid" on the computer where I had to relocate my dropbox to another drive (ran out of space on my SSD), and this time it did work properly. It's hard to understand how a dropbox sync misconfiguration could have produced the results that I saw, but it seems that it did.
