I'm trying to figure out how to force a carriage return in a text column.  I want to create a list of items on separate lines.  If I hit "return" to go to the next line, it takes me to the next cell.  Ctrl-ret and Alt-ret don't work either.  Is there any way to do this without relying on world wrap (which doesn't work for what I'm trying to do).

I did try that.  It doesn't create a new line in the current cell.  It moves me to the next item.

So far, my only solution is an improvised one:  add spaces until word wrap creates a new line.  This should work as long as I don't change the width of the column.

Strange, Shift+Enter works fine here...

Perhaps you've assigned it a keyboard shortcut. Checkout Tools > Keyboard Shortcuts > View Custom Shortcuts

Or else try deleting all you custom shortcuts

It's blank.  There are no custom shortcuts.

Update: it does work in other columns.  Does not work in Item column.

Ah, ok, I know what it is. You must turn column wordwrap ON. Right-click on the column header

Nope, I already had word wrap on but I finally figured it out.  I originally set it up as a pick list.  If that's turned on, you cannot use shift-ret to start a new line.
