How does the autosave mechanism in IQ work?  is it saving every x seconds or minutes?  Does it constantly save text that is being typed into the HTML pane, or does it only save text in the HTML pane when you move to another item?
 
I am often worried that if IQ were to crash after I've typed in a lot of information that I'd lose data.  With normal programs I'm constantly manually hitting save which in theory usually stops the loss of data if the program crashes.  With IQ I don't know how the autosave mechanism works, so after I've typed a lot of info I often close and reopen, under the assumption that causes an autosave and also frees up the databse so Dropbox can sync it.
 
I'd like to stop closing and reopening, which may be unnecessary, so I'd like to better understand how autosave mechanism works.

Html pane : ctrl+s to save as you write. Like other word processors. (You can also convert the HTML pane content to MHT and edit the content in Word directly -- I often do that if the structure is complex; that said, I 'm more of a grid person)
 
Grid : everything in a cell is saved as soon as you stop editing (i.e. exit edit mode by pressing enter or moving to the next item). There's nothing more to do.

If you're worried that you'll loose what you're typing in a cell while you're typing it, there,s nothing much you can do, except :
- ctrl+a
- ctrl+c,
- right arrow,
... and keep going.

But then it,s probably easier to just press enter, and continue to write (automatically entering edit mode, continuing where you left)...

Typing ESC by mistake while editing a cell content is the only really annoying thing that can happen. You'll abruptly exit edit mode and cancel everything you just did. It happens to me once in a while, but rarely is it incredibly problematic.
