I'm continuing to run into problems with pasting images into the HTML pane.  It just hasn't been smooth and reliable.  This was my experience last year and it really seems like it's the same.  Maybe these things were fixed previously and have been broken again by updates but here's some of the things I'm running into.

1) Zoom doesn't work.  When I paste an image, often it's way oversized vs the text I want to add below it.  The first step is to zoom out so I can see the outer edge of the image, but the zoom commands in the toolbar don't work.  I can zoom out using my mouse wheel but then there's no way to reset to a standard 100% zoom.

2) Re-sizing handles often don't work.

a) Image remains "pasted" to the background and cannot be re-sized (when I click on the image, no handles appear), or...

b) When I select the image, the re-sizing handles appear, but it's very difficult to get the mouse cursor to select the handle at the lower right.  I have to move it back and forth to just the right spot to get the cursor to switch from the "4 arrow" configuration to the "2 arrow" one that's used for dragging/re-sizing.

c) Once the handle is selected, it still won't re-size.  When I try to drag the handle, nothing happens.  The cursor switches back to the 4-arrow configuration or to a circle with a line through it. or...

d) It allows me to to re-size the image, but the cursor jumps off the lower right handle to somewhere in the middle of the image.  Now when I drag, it doesn't keep its proportions like it does when you drag one of the corner handles.  The image gets too narrow or wide as I drag it.

The problems above appear frequently and randomly.  The image that behaves correctly is the exception.  Any tips on how to get this to work better?

I'll bump this since I didn't get a reply last time and the problem persists.  Images in the HTML pane are thoroughly broken for me and a constant annoyance (see list above).  Is anyone else having this problem?  I'm using 60a.

Thanks, Pierre.  I don't want you to sidetrack more important work (multi-pick fields).  I just appreciate it getting on the "to-be-looked-at" list.

Hi Wayne

I barely use the HTML pane to directly write, manipulate images, etc. I use it mainly to clip web pages, add single images, etc.

However, when I do work on text destined to be displayed in the HTML pane, I usually work in MS Word in MHT format. I know many don't use Word and I can't blame them -- personal choice.

The HTML pane works fine for composing uncomplicated stuff, but it becomes annoying when more sophisticated formatting is required.

(Pierre had the intention to change the HTML editor at some point. But I think it's not that trivial so it got pushed by other issues)

Yeah, I might end up going that route, too.  So far, I haven't had real issues with text formatting.  It's the images that are giving me trouble.

Hi Wayne,

I was not able to reproduce the issue. If you can with the sample IQBase, please send it over (zipped with with its .files folder)

I'll add an image size dialog, if that can help...

Pierre,

I was unable to reproduce the behavior, with one exception.  Here's the current status.

1) Zoom: appears to work once I switch to browser mode.  Hard to remember that there are different modes for the HTML pane.  Don't think I've seen a program that does that but I'm sure there's a good reason it has to be that way.

2) Could not reproduce the "pasted" image problem using the sample file.  Maybe this behavior went away with Rel 61 (which I just updated to).

2d) Maybe this is more of a minor feature request.  When you select the bottom right handle and drag to re-size, the image should maintain the same height/width proportion as the original no matter how small or big you make it.  You should not be able to change the h/w ratio at all using this handle.  To do that, you should have to move to one of the middle handles.  In InfoQube, the ratio is not maintained as you re-size except to the extent you're able to do it by eyeballing the image as you drag it.  You shouldn't have to do that.

At least, that's how it behaves for me.

Thanks, Wayne
