this will be very interesting :-)
thanks Pierre !!

Pierre,

Thanks for the many nice improvements.  I've just started testing it out.  Here's some feedback (based on my system).

1) Still can't open files in the HTML pane.  HTML Pane: File>Open.  I've tried opening a .pdf, a .doc, an .htm, and an excel file.  None would open.

2) I'm following all the procedures for the installation (I think) but every time my HTMl tool bars get completely scrambled.

3) Copy/paste an excel spreadsheet into the HTML worked.  Of course, you lose all your Excel formatting.

Will return after trying out more.

I can open no problem an HTM file through html pane's Menu > File > Open. Editing is enabled. PDFs work fine too, of course editing is not enabled
As for .DOC and .XLS, I'd have to enable it. In the past, it worked fine. I can test it if you wish.

Toolbars are fine too. Perhaps a screen shot would help

OK, I give up trying to get the images to display here.  If I do more than two, they won't display.

I've attached a PDF showing the steps I'm taking.  Also shows my jumbled toolbar though I don't have a "before" shot of how I had it organized.

OK, try with something simpler than PDF to start with... like an HTM file

For PDF, have you set Acrobat reader X to show inside IE ?
(Edit > Preference > Internet > Display PDF in Browser)

I don't use Adobe Reader.  I have Adobe Pro Extended and Bluebeam Revu..
I have Adobe Pro set as you suggested.  I can view PDF's inside Firefox with no problem.  I don't know about internet explorer because i never use it.

As I said, I also tried .htm's, doc's, and Excel.  None would display.

You can see the video I just posted.

The IQ HTML pane uses IE, so to test, open IE and try to open a PDF file. When this works, it should work in IQ too.
Sorry, but I can't do anything more to help you...

PDF's open fine in Internet Explorer.  OK, I guess it's time to give up.  It just doesn't work on my system.

Last night I installed Adobe reader, set it as my default PDF viewer in both IE and Firefox, and rebooted my computer.  Didn't work.

Keep in mind, it's not just a pdf problem.  None of the document formats (htm, doc, Excel) will display.

HTM is the first one to test, as it does not rely on anything installed. The HTML pane can inherently display local HTM files.
What about web pages, can you view those ? Click on open web page, enter say www.google.com and what happens ?

Yes, I can view web pages.  I had to first uncheck "work offline".  Still won't load other documents.

Perhaps it is a path issue. Put an htm file in c:\ folder and try to view it inside the HTML pane. Does it work ?

No, that didn't work.  Thanks for taking the time to make suggestions.  Is it possible some running process could be blocking it?

I wasn't uploading images.  I was copy/pasting them.  That's worked in the past and worked this time until I got to the third image.  Maybe it exceeded the size limits.

Interesting.  I've done copy/paste on all my posts from the beginning.  I could see them and so could others who commented on them.

Properties Pane

Drag and drop is not working for me.  It's marginally better than it was.  Here's what's happening:

1) At least 30% of the time that I grab a field and try to drag it, nothing happens.

2) At least half the time it does drag, the horizontal placement bar will not show up, or will show up only intermittently.

3) The "subitem" bar shows up more reliably.

4) I've been able to drag fields and drop them as subitems of other fields.  I have not been able to drag a field and drop it in a different position where it's a "top line" field.

I've found drag and drop in InfoQube to be difficult to use across the board.  Why not have the same option that you have in the grid that allows you to securely move items around use alt+arrow keys?

Field drag drop works as expected here. Remember that fields in the Properties pane are always sorted alphabetically, whether top level or as a sub-item.
To have a field list sorted just the way you want, you can use a form.

But you are correct that improvements are possible, I notice sometimes neither the horizontal bar, nor the sub-item arrow is shown when dragging. I'll improve that

And yes, keyboard support is coming soon. I just wanted to fix things before adding anything new

OK, that sounds good.  I was wondering if it was not possible to re-order the alphabetical sort.

Multi-pick fields looks great so far.  I'm not too swift with pop-up lists yet so I'm not the best to evaluate it.  If one of the more experienced users would post some tips, it'd be appreciated.

I'm trying to see how this differs from just using keywords in a text column.  Let me see if I understand it this far:

1) The big advantage of the multi-pick is the ability to limit and standardize the choices.  There's no such limit with keywords, which can introduce inconsistencies.

2) For filtering, the two systems work the same (Alt-G>enter filter expression).

Correct so far?  Other things I'm not thinking of?

Yes, except, in practice, using Ctrl+F would be a better option IMHO

In the future of course, we could add easier tag filtering using a tag list pane, or tag auto-complete (typing #some would show a drop-down with #someTag1 and #someTag2), something like it.

Linked with the ability to limit and standardise keyword choices is the ease with which items can be categorised using multiple standardised keywords. This is coupled with the ease with which you can now type just a few characters and then select a tag value. The practical significance of this is that it enables items to be categorised (tagged) in many ways while at the same time making it easier to find everything that you have tagged in a particular way. The improvements in version 63 are significant and seem to work well. Thank you Pierre.
