Ecco has a searchable Folder Window shown to the left.
IQ has a Field Properties Window that does not appear to be dockable?
It also does not appear that I can search in this window?

Is there some way to dock this or other Field Window?
In Ecco I often drag fields (folders in Ecco) to the Grid to add a column. I also double click a field to display its items in a scratch grid..
Can this be done in IQ somehow?

 super video David!   thanks very much.

IQ does all that.

Drag the top "bar" of the properties pane and move the pane; you will then see docking locations on the screen.  Drop the Properties Pane on the desired docking location (i.e. left).

You can drag fields from the fields list to the grid, to add that field as a column.

Double-clicking a field name will open its items in a scratch grid.

To "search" for a field name in the field list, just start typing the name of the field.

Hi viking,

Thanks for your questions. Thanks for others for your excellent answers too !!

As it so happens, now that the Field Properties dialog is no longer modal, I was considering putting it in a docking pane. If it goes smoothly, expect in in v85 or v86

@David, thanks for the Video.

@Pierre:
1. Can some more info be added to the current dockable Properties pane, like number of items and type? The full Field Properties dialogue doesn't have the functionality of the Properties pane (e.g. arrange fields, open in scratch, drag as column etc).
2. It would be great if there was a search function for both the Field Properties dialogue and the Properties pane (I have a lot fields and often need to search in Ecco)

Hi viking,
  1. Press Ctrl and hover fields in the Properties pane to show this and other information. Also, you may want to dock the Notifications pane. It shows useful info
  2. Both have Search as you type...
Keep asking if it does not do the trick for you !

How do I go to the next matching item?
e.g. I have: field, secondfield, lastfield.; I want to find each item with "field" (in alphabetic order)

F3 will do it.
Search as you type is described here: 2. Grid Auto-Search
