I often have App crashes. I just created a new Grid, AddressBook, and added the AddressBook field to it. I then wanted to display all items => Crash:

Problem signature:
  Problem Event Name:    APPCRASH
  Application Name:    InfoQube.exe
  Application Version:    0.9.0.84
  Application Timestamp:    5807e7b8
  Fault Module Name:    MSVBVM60.DLL
  Fault Module Version:    6.0.98.15
  Fault Module Timestamp:    4a5bda6c
  Exception Code:    c0000005
  Exception Offset:    0000a432
  OS Version:    6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.1
  Locale ID:    1033
  Additional Information 1:    f01c
  Additional Information 2:    f01c84d8e4e2b0d3fbbbd237c1da5ba6
  Additional Information 3:    e76c

Reopen IQ, and Addressbook seems OK (displays all items)

Was the field properties dialog open when that happened ?

(Except for one situation, I rarely -- never? -- experience crashes in IQ.  The situation I'm referring to always involves the field properties dialog/window -- I've informed Pierre about it).

One time that it happened, the field properties window was open. Not this time though.

I just repeated the last crash:
New Grid
Set Grid Name (Junk)
Options|Set Grid Source
Select a field with lots of items & click OK
Get dialogue asking how many items to display
Select #3 (all items)
Wait....
Crash

@Pierre, were you able to reproduce the crash?

No, I wasn't
Try to reproduce it with the sample IQBase and report back

Maybe Pierre hasn't asked this because he can already tell from your data which version you are running - are you running portable or installable?  Most of us run portable and experience crashes very rarely.

@Pierre,
I cannot reproduce it with the Sample database because it does not have a field with enough items to invoke the dialogue that asks how many items to display. Any way to quickly create a field with a couple of thousand dummy items? Alternatively, is there a way to scramble the text in my private file?

@David, I run the portable version and I have tested the program for less than a week. I have already had 3-4 crashes and 1-2 hangs
Note that I have a lot of data in my file (imported from Ecco)

Make a copy and on this copy do: Tools > Database management > Other tools > Mask Data

It doesn't seem to scramble Field names and number values (in number type fields)?

Correct. It scrambles text only

OK. I need to create a dummy file then which has a few thousand items with a specific field. Any idea how to do that easily?

Take your file and delete the number fields perhaps ? 2 minutes and it is done...
(you mean that your numbers without any text description is of any significance to someone else ??? I'll add an option to choose what to scramble in a future version)

My number fields may contain account numbers (among other things). Also, my field names (I have more than hundred) contains confidential clients. I would need to review all my fields.
