Not sure if this is an IQ bug or something going on with this particular laptop, but I'll put it out there just in case.

If I am editing text in a grid cell, using the non-wysiwyg editor, the cursor sometimes disappears.  So that I can't tell whether the item is active for editing or not.

It was bothering me so much that I switched toe the wysiwyg editor.  In the wysiwyg editor the cursor does not disappear, but I did notice that sometimes it just stops blinking.

I think I did not notice this until about 0.9.94, but it has persisted through 0.9.95.

I havent been using IQ much this last week, but did see this today.

WYSIWYG not selected, simply pressing spacebar with item field selected, to get into edit mode:
was unable to reproduce though.

EDIT//
FWIW, there is an indication though that it is in edit mode --
a shadow shows on bottom and right of cell

Thanks Tom and Armando, will continue testing.  In the meantime I'm starting to like WYSIWYG editor, where the cursor doesn't disappear for me.

I'm not sure why I stopped using the WYSIWYG editing -- may have been because of teething problems initially.

Wondering,
is there a way to enable it for all columns/grids?
The menu: Columns >WYSIWYG editor -- this seems to enable it only for column with focus (as per column-header context menu method).

Tom, are you by any chance using Autohotkey?

Hi Jim,

Does it happen in all grids ?

Can you report back these settings:
  1. Tools > Options > 1.2.1 (grid font) and 1.2.2 (grid font size)
  2. Grid > Properties > Options > Default Font

I know I'm not Jim  but FWIW report:

happened again in a different grid (still unable to reproduce though).

Note that I lately removed all font info for grids in 'manage grids'.

1. Options:
1.2.1 is Corbel
1.2.2 is 12 (increased from 9 earlier today)

2. is empty

Hi Pierre,

1.2.1 - Arial
1.2.2 - 9 pt.
Grid > Properties > Options > Default Font - Arial 10.5

I'll check to see if it happens with other grids.

Meanwhile I do have a minor annoyance to report about WYSIWYG mode, since I have started to use it.  As I am typing in the cell, somehow the view scrolls slightly to the right, so that I can't see the leftmost character in the cell.  Just tried reproducing it but it didn't happen - but anyway I think what I have to do is move the cursor to the leftmost position and press the left key again to see the leftmost characters.

Hi Pierre, to reply to your question, I don't know if it is happening in all grids, but I just tried out another grid and the blinking cursor also disappeared in that grid too.

Seems like there might be a particular trigger that causes it to happen, but I haven't figured out exactly what it is yet.  I'm mostly using WYSIWYG editor now in which the problem does not occur.

EDIT:  I just noticed that it happened right after Autohotkey expanded a "hotstring" - as you probably know Autohotkey has a "text expansion" feature that will replace a "hotstring" that you type in with expanded text that you have specified in a script.  In this specific case the script instructs Autohotkey to replace the hotstring "/ddd" with a date/time in the format "2017.04.20.0302".

So now I'm wondering whether this is somehow an Autohotkey problem, or some conflict between IQ and Autohotkey.

Me,
I do have AutoHotKey (AHK) running, but it doesn't do anything with text or with IQ.
(Mainly just have a bunch of shortcuts to manage windows)

Starting with v96, you can switch to another app (Alt-Tab) and back and editing will resume. That should show the cursor in those times where is disappears.

HTH !

Can't wait to try it !!

I know this is an ancient thread, but lately I have been seeing the cursor disappear from a grid cell I am editing.  WYSIWYG is off on desktop and two different laptops.  Not sure why I'm not using WYSIWYG, I must have had some problem with it in the past.  Using 122.6.
