When I say 'Layout' -- I include open tabs, and their layout e.g. dual-pane type layout for the grids.

I have IQ set to open previous file with previous layout -- it has lost the layout (this happens very occasionally, possibly related to dropbox sync).
It's not clear to me whether I can restore this layout.
In
menu: View >Layout >Load  I see only one file with requested dock.dat extension.
=>
I tried restoring an earlier version of this and it made no change -- could my layout possibly be saved elsewhere?

I also tried saving a bunch of open tabs as a layout, but when I load that dock.dat file, it doesnt open the grids again, so I presume I'm on the wrong track there.
I also looked in YourFilename.ini, but that doesnt seem to have this info either.

Didnt have any luck searching help or the manual (looking for 'layout').

I was just starting to look at this the other day but didn't follow through.  I thought one of the threads said you need to back up your .ini files, which is what I was going to do.

I hope Pierre can give us direction on this.  I lose my layouts because I put the computer to sleep overnight and sometimes Windows crashes during that time.

The ability to save layouts would be ideal.  My pdf software also loses the current tab layout when Windows crashes but it does load the previous set up that was saved the last time it was closed.  Even that
would be a big help because I tend to use similar setups over time.

was the closest I found:

C- What is synced and what is not

All settings in Tools > Options > This file are synced with the exception of the following (which are saved in YourFile.ini and therefore not synced) :
  1. Backup paths (2.4.6)
  2. .Files path (2.4.11)
  3. Sync settings (2.4.8, 2.4.9, 2.4.10)
  4. Pane layouts
In addition, the following is also saved in the IQBase:
  1. Tab-workspace layout
  2. Grid name is used for Search, Scratch, Inbox
  3. User Home pages
  4. Outline labels

not sure though whether 'Tab-workspace layout' is what we're after or not

Hi !

Let me get v105 out of the way and I'll look into it. Panes and layouts have gone through a number of iterations over time, and some clean-up is long due.
