I've been using the Floating Editor (ctrl-E) more recently, I find it handy when I want to have occasional access to the Document Pane for an item, but keep an overall view of the Grid. But there are some things it lacks compared to the Document Pane. E.g. text formatting. You can't independently set a format without selecting the text first. That is, I can't just press ctrl-i and have the next thing I type be italic, I have to type it first, then select it, then press ctrl-i.

This makes it difficult to use as a true alternative to the Document Pane. I don't know if this is a limitation of the engine/component itself. At any rate, it would be handy if it could be more like the actual Document Pane as far as text formatting is concerned.
