My finding and filtering functions haven't been working correctly for quite a while.

1) Cannot access the new find / filter function.  Ctrl-F  shortcut doesn't work for me (goes to "find").  Tried to reset it in "customize shortcuts" but cannot find "Find / Filter" command there.  Also cannot find it in pulldown menus.  So right now I can't use it at all.

Before there was an option to reset shortcuts without deleting custom ones.  That option is no longer available.

2) Column filter no longer works.  Ctrl-G and Ctrl-Shift G both filter on the selected item.  No dialogue comes up.  Can access it on the toolbar but doing so is much slower.  I know someone mentioned this before.

3) Suggestion: provide "whole words only" option for column filter.  This is what's keeping me from using this as a substitute for find / filter (which does have that option).

Hi Wayne !

Long time no see :-)

You can reset system shortcuts as before, there is now a dialog with the choices. Just in case, do Tools > Shortcuts > View custom shortcuts (opens in Notepad) before. Then do the reset.

Yes, I'm back.  Was trying to cut down on forum time everywhere but InfoQube is the heart of everything I do so it's hard to stay away for long.

OK, that seems to have done it.  Didn't realize the "save custom shortcuts" was on the second level

I assume that later Find/Filter will be integrated into the pulldown menu's and keyboard shortcuts.

Thanks, Wayne

Great !

Menus and shortcuts "should" update automatically. If it doesn't, it could be because these were customized in a way that it cannot update. In those situations, you can reset the menus (in Customize) and shortcuts (using the commands I mentioned)

Shortcuts back to not working again.  I can fix them but fix never lasts and reverts to not working after file is closed and re-opened.

1) Ctrl-F for new find/filter dialogue.   Re-setting fixes it but has to be done for each file when it's opened.  Fix is lost when all files are closed and also overnight when computer goes to sleep.  Each morning I have to re-set it for every file being used.

2) Ctrl-Shift-M = mark item; Ctrl-Shift-N = add as sub-items.  Re-setting shortcuts does NOT work for these.  I have to delete the shortcuts and re-create them from scratch.  Once this shortcut is fixed, it does work for subsequent files.  But when all files are closed and re-opened, it's no longer working.

Hi Wayne,

Do you have multiple instances of IQ running at the same time ? If yes, if you make a change to one, these changes could be overwritten by another. The simple rule is: Last one to close wins

Please report back if this explains it, else I can look at it further

Yes, I'm running multiple instances and am aware of the last file closed issue.

I checked it again just to be sure.  I closed all files except one.  I got all three shortcuts working on this file, then closed it.  I opened this one file and all three shortcuts were disabled again.

I'm attaching two versions of each: shortcuts not working (immediately after opening file); shortcuts working (after resetting shortcuts to activate find/filter, and revising customized shortcuts for "mark" and "add as sub-items".

For the mark/add as subitem shortcuts, I first deleted the existing ones, then added back new ones with the same shortcut keys.

On the off chance this somehow helps you:  when I replace the "mark" shortcut it just accepts the replacement; when I replace the "add subitems" shortcut I get a warning that the shortcut is already assigned.  I then replace it.

Now that I think of it, a while back I directly edited the custom .tab file (deleted one of the shortcuts).  Don't know if that could mess things up.

Hi Wayne,

I looked at your files. You only have 8 custom shortcuts, so I suggest to reset all shortcuts and then set them manually.

w.r.t. your custom shortcuts and behaviors you're seeing:

  1. Column Filter: your custom shortcuts remap Ctrl+G. That explains why the Grid Filter dialog does not open on Ctrl+G
  2. Find / Filter dialog: Same as above: custom shortcuts remap this to Omnibox
  3. Mark Item: Ctrl+Shift+M should work as it is the default and your custom file does not overwrite it
  4. Add as sub: Ctrl+Shift+N is to mark the item as non-heading (normal)

I loaded your files and was able to see the issue. So I'll see if and how I can resolve it.

In the meantime, if you reset all shortcuts, you should be able to use the new features. I'll get back to you soon
