This has been present in the last few InfoQube releases. I can reproduce it on two computers, but I share a configuration between them, so it could be related to my particular options. While typing in the Document Pane, there is a momentary lag after typing the character 'I' (capital "eye") after which a space will not register. If I press the spacebar twice it will add the space.
Recommended workaround if there are others affected is to avoid writing in the first person.

I just tried it, and at first it happened to me too. Then I noticed that the cause is holding down 'shift' while hitting the 'space' bar. The word 'I' is simply the most common word in English that ends with a capital letter, leading to accidentally holding down shift while hitting the space bar. But perhaps Pierre can make an adjustment so that space still works with shift.

Ah! Now that you mention it, I know I've experienced the issue with acronyms and exclamation points, but I couldn't pin down anything as reproducible as the word 'I'. Normally I am proud of my fast and accurate typing, but I suppose I'm sloppy with releasing shift because there normally is no feedback.

That's it. Shift+Space is used for toggling checkbox state. I'll see if I can enable it nevertheless
