IQ makes it very easy to add a tag(s) to an item. Ctrl+T goes to the Tags pane if it is open, otherwise the tags selector popup appears; and the tags list can be filtered to show only tags that match the text entered. It would be great if the same applied for the entry of values into text or numeric fields. It would be great if there was a Fields selector popup that could be activated by a keystroke, and if the list of fields could be filtered just like the tags can be filtered. Actually I just discovered that even right now it's very easy. F4 to go to the Properties pane. And even if the Properties pane sections (Item Properties, Marked Items etc) are collapsed, just start typing the name of the desired field, and you will be taken to that field in the All Fields section. You might have to press F3 to get to the next occurrence of the typed string. Once the desired field is reached, press the right arrow key to activate the value column and press F2 to enter or change the value. Press F4 again to exit the Properties pane and return to the Grid. Still it would be great if the mechanism for field value entry mirrored the tag entry mechanism.

Hi Jim,
Thanks for your post!
Have you tried the new Forms dialog? Could it not do what you'd like? See InfoQube v121b is now available !
It is really quite flexible (though I realize that until the doc is written, it may be difficult to see all that can be done with it)

It looks very useful - but I think I may have discovered a bug. If a form field is a reference to a file or folder, a down arrow appears to the right of the field name. If I click on this in the Forms section of the Properties pane, a folder/file browser pops up. But when I click on a down arrow in the Forms dialog, nothing happens.
If I click on this in the…
