Tabs should maintain their positions until manually moved, but they don't. They periodically move on their own, often 1-3 positions.
I know I posted on this a few years ago and Pierre said he would look into it. I can't remember seeing a follow up and can't find the original thread.
This might be one of those grid things outside of Pierre's control.

Tabs are still moving around…
Tabs are still moving around.
I doubt this is worth pursuing. If you did want to look into it, you might be able to reproduce by using my set up: two panes side by side with horizontal tabs.
Place an important tab in the far left position of each pane and see if it stays put. You'll probably have to leave it that way for a day or so to see it. It might go all day with no problems then move repeatedly, every few minutes. For me, the misbehavior can last for several hours then clear up again for several hours.

Won't let my upload the file. It shows the file name briefly then displays "No files selected". I've tried a dozen times with no luck.
It's still doing it…
It's still doing it regularly after upateing to 125.7. I keep my main tab at the far left so I can automatically return to it without thinking. Can't do that when it's constantly drifting to positions 2, 3, or 4.
Tab dragged is turned off.
Note the "Log" tab in the right pane in the leftmost position =
Now the Log tab has spontaneously drifted on its own to the second position. This happens while I'm working and I never see it actually move. Happens many dozens of times every day. Other tabs drift around, too =

Hi Wayne,
I'll try to use such a setup for a while to reproduce the issue
Questions for you:
FYI, I'm not using tab groups anymore, and prefer dashboards, as they are more flexible

1) After current tab.
2) I try to keep the minimum tabs open to do current work. It slows down work to have to constantly wait for grids to load. But I am working to find the sweet spot for number of grids kept open, and have been trending towards having fewer open.
I tried the navigation tab and dashboard but didn't find anything more than I can do with my own navigation grid ("G"), which I can design exactly to suit how I work. But maybe I missed something. I'll review their capabilities again.
I don't use grid groups either. Or are you referring to my two-pane set up? Two panes are essential to how I work.
Thanks for the ideas to look into again.

If you mean tab groups (see Working with Grids and Tabs), then yes
Docked grids and dashboards should allow you to do the same things but are more flexible (IMHO)
