While I have noted improvement in data entry functionality, there is still a lack.  In ECCO, the cursor in an item ment that you were all set to edit it.  However, IC seems to operate more like excel, which is a poor choice for data entry.  I really would like to use it like ECCO, but if this is not possible, an Access workalike is much more desirable.  Is there a place to set keys and functions.

Have you tried Edit > Auto-edit ?

I don't use it personnaly. I find the way IQ editing / browsing works much more intuitive than both Ecco or Excel / Access
  • When editing, the left-right cursors/ is limited to the cell. The up-down one will get you out of editing
  • When not editing, all cursor keys enable quick movements between cells
  • When over a cell, Edit > Overwrite (or OVR status bar) toggles what happens when you start typing:
    • OVR On: will replace the content with the new text (press ESC to cancel it if not what you wanted)
    • OVR Off: will append your new text. No need to scroll to the end
  • F2 will toggle editing (3 states when a editing form is available, such as for dates
  • Shift-F2 brings up a large, resizable, editing window
Give it a try. It has been quite thought out...

Thanks. I did not realize that.  But is there a listing of keys and functions and a way to change/add to them.  I need to be able to do this with as little mouse use as possible.

see Keyboard Shortcuts in the manual - thre's info in there somewhere as well about customising shortcuts
(to customise: right.click menu or toolbar & click "Customise",  etc)
