Pierre, would it be possible to add a control to grid mgr whereby user can set grid to open html pane, i.e. some grids don't need html pane & some do.

Suggested work around -

I added the URL field to my grids where I may have HTML associated pages and also added a button to open the HTML pane.
I loved ECCO but really don't like the yellow BG & blue bullets so I have changed the defaults.

Maybe slightly off-topic but :

shift+f12 will hide/unhide HTML pane (see book section on shortcuts...)

Also, it's possible to add the itemHasHTML field/column to the grid, and even have this field colored with some conditional formatting -- this helps to see whether an item has (or not) html/mht content.

Here's what I put in the "ItemHasHTML"  conditional formats section ("manage fields" window):

Criteria         Formats
   <>0            backcolor=&HBF6AE3

Armando, Thx for illustration --- another good idea.  BTW, what function controls the connecting graphic lines between items?

Menu > Options > Programme Settings > Grid > Ecco Style Bullets

deselect for nice lines between items (refresh grid)

I made 3.10.20.10.10 Ecco Style Bullets for the manual to show this.

KeithB, I tried w/o ecco style bullets & found it a little confusing w the gid lines. Then I tried to exclude the grid lines but this proved to be too much. Maybe it's a matter of shading the lines or the grid lines... what do you think?

I've just starting using the w/o bullets style. To my eye, using the lines, and turning off grid lines looks pretty good.

I think I like them both. It doesn't take much time to switch back and forth, once you know where it's at. It would be nice to not have to refresh/open and close grid.

did you try without grid lines and with different colours for alternating lines?
Me, I'm now using lines and no ecco bullets and default colours for alternating lines and like it

I found the confusion with the grid lines goes away quickly.  By using lines, a different alternating color, and a yellow highlight, I really love the look of my setup now:

I think you & Tom have done it.  I, too, am using connecting lines w alternating line colors / no grid as well & it works fine for me, too.

What I would like to see is that this can be done to individual views via a view property dialog.  I haven't tested but I'm assuming these options are currently program wide vs at the view level.
