Using 25B. Cannot sort columns, ascending or descending. Could be my install, but I tried it on different machines with different databases. Anyone confirm?

Jon, what are you doing to sort? There at least 3 ways that I know of.

1. Right click on the column header
2. Menu
3. Toolbar

None of these commands work (for me). Are you able to sort?

Column context menu does not seem to be working here (not sure should it sort everything but it doesnt sort anything here!)
[edit] only sorts top level items - that was only introduced recently (not sure why exactly) [/edit]

Item context menu - sort sub-item not working

Sortbar (Menu: Grid > Sortbar) and Sortbox (filterbar) are working here

[edit] I got caught out with the Column context menu cause I was trying to sort a grid with only one top level item
Note: if the Sortbar is open the Sortbox doesnt work.[/edit]

that's by design though AFAIK
(I've suggested elsewhere that these two be merged but dont know if this possible)

It is not that it doesn't work, it is simply that any grid can only be sorted in one way,

that is, the sort box does sort the items, but then, the sortbar will resort it as requested by the user.

I can't imagine how it could work differently...

HTH !

Hi Pierre,
So what you're saying is that you can't apply a column Sorting (using the sort bar), and then use the "Sort sub items ascending/descending" from the context menu ? (This the problem I outlined, not the fact that the sort bar was interfering with the sort box).

personally don't think that there's a contradiction here. In an "ideal world", I'd be able to sort globally, and then decide to resort specific sub items in an ascending/descending order. That's what doesn't work. And it doesn't work whether I hide the sort bar or not.

I don't know if that's clear... It's pretty late.

  • sort bar worked
  • sort in source bar worked
  • Context menu > sort from right clicking on column header did not work either up or down

Everything seems to work here. EXCEPT using the context menu to sort an item's subitems -- this works, but not after trying the different types of sorting.
