My limited style of use of IQ shows up whenever I'm doing something different !

I want to be able to see all the text in a multiline field - currently only one line shows (which I find good)
The only way I have found to show the text is via the tooltip or when I put the cell into edit mode.
These are both awkward I find.

Is there any other way?

Ideally I'd like a shortcut (e.g. F8) that would toggle-expand the cell to show all it's contents.
That way I can move quickly up down the grid with arrows etc and easily show/hide full cell contents when I want.

Tom,
I didn't test it but have you looked @
right click on column title bar & select wordwrap?

Also
(a) hovering over a line will do it  (no need to go into edit mode)
(b) hover over item & open the notifications pane

In search results, once you select an item (not in edit) it expands the height of the item to accommodate all text
Maybe you are in single click > edit mode
If you change to dbl click > edit mode, it may serve you better in this case

But I see your point about a column option or program option to auto-expand. (maybe I've missed it)

Thanks, I knew it had changed but had forgotten about wordwrap on the column context menu
- I 'd like to be able to show it though
  • without wordwrap i.e. the single line display suits for overview of grid
  • without *having* to use Notification pane (I do use it at times)
  • keyboard friendly i.e. without *having* to use the mouse

 fussy beggar aren't I...   :-)

Tom.... that still leaves the option to simply hover over an item w/o going into edit more.
I'm not against what you want but it seems to me if you want to reveal a particular item in a grid then you are going to have to "point to it" one way or another and in so doing it reveals all its contents
However, if you want to expand all the items in a grid then the keyboard shortcut will be handy for a fussy beggar.

In v0.9.25D, I've added a command to toggle individual cell wordwrap: Item>>Toggle Wordwrap (Ctrl+W).

Thanks for the suggestion!
