I've attached an inventory_template.sndb file (zipped).  Pierre used to have a business-oriented inventory file available, and this was based on that, with various additions as I learned things.
Hopefully this will help us all see how file sharing will work on blogs.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I extracted it from my main database, and removed some things.
I converted all the MHT files over to HTML for now, to just have one file. I real life, I have quite a few MHT files, where the photos of things reside.
I tried to clean up everything "extraneous", but there may be some unused fields I missed. There still may be some extraneous grids as well.
It's not fancy, but a few things to note:
  1. Forms: I made up a "System_fields" form, which is handy. On my main database, I have specialized forms, as well as a not_system_field" form.
  2. The HowOld field is showing how old the item is, in years.
  3. Do Ctrl-1, and the grid is very tidy looking, by room.
  4. There's a simple conditional format on HTML (ItemHasHTML)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Maybe someone can improve it, and post it on their blog? Perhaps someone can get out their fine-tooth comb and clean it up.

Thanks for sharing. I have been looking at how to do conditional formatting, so I will check this out. I am going to try to use in the new calendar. Hopefully, I will have something to post too.

Keith,
thanks for that, it's impressive

Queries:
1) Why do you use a "Room" field instead of using ItemParent - is it so you can filter ? -
if so, I'm wondering is there a way to get the Room field to simply show what's in the ItemParent field, i.e. to automate it so you dont have to fill it in
EDIT/  filtering is not my strong point - you can filter for itemParent too though ...

2) Why is the Basement one crossed out?

3) I presume the "@" items had a ToDo check at some stage?

In answer to my own question #1 - if there's more than one level of sub-items, having the room field is a bit like the Projects field and so is better for filtering as applies to all sub-items & their sub-items etc.
(you wouldnt think I've been using this programme a year, would you!!)

2) was the Ctrl+s I can't get used to not using for save...I'm almost positive early on that was presented as something you could do to force a save...now apparently it's strikethrough only.

3) the @stuff is gtd type tags I used when I was in the old program (evernote 2.x). I don't use them anymore, I will probably use a todo check eventually.
