"Daily Logs" and Group Items by Sort Column

Submitted by KeithB on 2009/04/30 22:36
I saw a daily logs grid  Jan mentioned in I need a suggestion for workflow , and experimented with that a bit per his description, and Pierre's comments. Attached is what I came up with (I didn't get all the color stuff setup).

I wanted to mention that the Grid>Group Items by Sort Column, a feature I didn't really understand. It's one of those many IQ things that seems so simple once you know it exists. I don't think I've seen much about it in past forum posts, except perhaps a brief text description.

It's really easy to use--all you do is click a column to sort on, such as the date, in the example shown, then either click the icon, or use the menu Grid>Group Items by Sort Column. Look how nice that works for a daily log or daily journal.

IQBase of the old Forum

Here's the old forum in .sndb forum.

The setup is very simple--no hierachy.

There may a few duplicates here and there.

It's rather large--after a while, I started deleting the avatars.

I put in all the forums except the "naming" one.

Everything is a MHT file, so get out your Word or Blocknote to edit.

I captured everything, unless there was a totally blank message.

Forum .SNDB 2-16-2009

Submitted by KeithB on 2009/02/16 21:08
I captured the forums as of 2-16-2009 in .SNDB format, to help keep track of things. I'd been bookmarking lots of stuff, to look at, and was getting overwhelmed.

I really like the way it turned out, it's a handy way to have a lightning-fast search capability, and a great way to reference node names.

The hyperlink to the forum (URL column) is quite handy also.

Nothing fancy, however, I put in a field per ItemHasHtml, which I found fascinating. What flexibility!

I thought I'd post it here, in case anyone else was interested. If anyone you find other uses, or have suggestions of other things to use it for, please comment.

[edit, to put #2 file, which contains .mht files (oops)]`

An Inventory sample

Submitted by KeithB on 2009/01/08 20:35
I've attached an inventory_template.sndb file (zipped).  Pierre used to have a business-oriented inventory file available, and this was based on that, with various additions as I learned things.
Hopefully this will help us all see how file sharing will work on blogs.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I extracted it from my main database, and removed some things.
I converted all the MHT files over to HTML for now, to just have one file. I real life, I have quite a few MHT files, where the photos of things reside.
I tried to clean up everything "extraneous", but there may be some unused fields I missed. There still may be some extraneous grids as well.
It's not fancy, but a few things to note:
  1. Forms: I made up a "System_fields" form, which is handy.
