I dont see any way of adding shortcut to Back-color for an item. It's one I use a lot...
 
menu: Item >Back-Color is not on offer in the Customise /Keyboard tab
I do see it in Commands tab (under All Commands), but still unable to add shortcut
 
Any chance of a shortcut (preferably customisable) that will either:
  1. strip the background colour from focused item, or,
  2. simply open the Back-Color dialogue

Checkout Keyboard Shortcuts on how to set keyboard shortcuts. I was able to set it that way.
 
I've also wanted to add commands to trigger actions. Perhaps I'll add it in v104...

I forget about the manual -

Read the, ...eh... manual :-)
 
(I had actually tried right-clicking the button, but forgot the Customise dialogue had to be open to access that context menu.)
