Hi,

I've been using IQ for a couple of weeks.

I'm facing situations/bugs crashing IQ v0.9.112 Portable from rare occurrences to always happening:

a) RARE: Dragging & dropping items between different grids with Ctrl pressed.

b) FEW: Random crashes when I'm not even touching the keyboard/mouse. IQ just closed itself in my face without any user operation going on.

c) FEW: When customizing interface, and dragging and dropping items around the toolbar.

d) FEW: Using "Add Item/Clip to Item HotKey", then pasting snapshots/images from the clipboard.

e) ALWAYS: Using "Add Item" or "Clip to Item" HotKey, then moving the focus to the main application clicking on the taskbar.
See this screencast showing the issue: http://bit.ly/2VTqp7R

f) ALWAYS: The command "Edit>Edit Item" always crashes IQ, be it clicking on the menu/toolbar or using the shortcut Shift+F2
See this screencast showing the issue: http://bit.ly/2W8Wbhj

Please, let me know if there is a log file or any other means I could provide further information about the crashes.

P.s. Installer version not tested, just the portable one.

Regards,
Carlos

Hi Carlos,

First a warm welcome from the IQ community !

re Issues e and f: A few users have reported this a while back and IIRC the issue was resolved.

Can you provide 2 settings (Tools > Options)
  1. Doc pane IE version (1.4.1)
  2. Use UTF-8 when loading Doc pane (1.4.13)
2 Windows settings could also be useful:
  1. Screen resolution
  2. Regional settings date format
Thanks !

You probably want to apply the v112q patch

Hi Carlos,

Just below the program download buttons, is a series of 4 download buttons. The first is the v112q patch as the description column states, dated April 17th

Also as you can read in InfoQube Program Install and Set-up:

Installing patches

Between versions, patches are sometimes available. To install these:
  1. Download from the patch (same link as above)
  2. Since the file is less common, browsers will likely flag it as suspicious. Click Keep (or Open) :
  3. Locate the main program folder (use Tools > Help > About > Support Info to find the program folder)
  4. Close IQ if it is running
  5. Open the zip file (which was most likely saved in your Downloads folder)
  6. Copy paste the InfoQube.exe file from the zip file to the main program folder

=> Testing v112q patch during few days.
I can confirm issues (e) and (f) are persistent and occurring ALWAYS, even after updating to the latest patch:
e) Using "Add Item" or "Clip to Item" HotKey, then moving the focus to the main application clicking on the taskbar. See this screencast showing the issue: http://bit.ly/2VTqp7R
f) The command "Edit>Edit Item" always crashes IQ, be it clicking on the menu/toolbar or using the shortcut Shift+F2 . See this screencast showing the issue: http://bit.ly/2W8Wbhj

=> Please, see snapshot below for the requested information.

=> Regarding resolution, the "custom scale factor" set is 120% in a monitor Dell UltraSharp 27" U2719D (2560x1440)
At the Windows 100% recommend resolution, UI elements of any software are very small, even Google Chrome.
Going up, the next Windows default scale is 125%. Although at this scale UI elements are better sized, some apps in my system become blurry, being InfoQube one of them.
At 125%, I tried the Windows trick "Properties>Compatibility>Change high DPI settings>Override...>System (Enhanced). The appearance/sharp of InfoQube UI gets better (it works for other apps as well).
However, it is just when I set resolution scale factor to 120% that I can really see an "UltraSharp" UI for any app, even with the "High DPI>....>System (Enhanced)" setting OFF.
I tried InfoQube against the reported bugs (e) and (f) for all resolution scales mentioned, but the bugs are persistent, independent of changing resolution scales.

Thank you!
Carlos

Hi Carlos,

What about setting the Doc pane to use IE 10 instead ? Does it solve the Item Editor issue ?

Pierre,
The item f seems to be resolved. I know I reported the same issue when the Item Editor first came out. But I tried it again yesterday in v0.9.114L and it did not crash the Portable version. So, at this point I would consider this fixed.
