After I realized from the above post (thanks, Tom!) that I had to re-connect to my Google account to extend permissions, everything synced just fine. Amazing work, Pierre, thank you *very* much!

One immediate question: Is there any way the custom sort order from the Google tasks list could be preserved (i.e. which item was dragged to first, second etc. place in the list in the app or the sidebar in the browser), for example by storing these positions (if they can be read from Google) as numbers in an additional column in the IQ ToDo grid?

Now I'm beginning to regret having switched my primary mobile notes input location from Tasks to Keep! I might just have to redirect that workflow back to tasks now, but what really turned me off was that when I pasted several paragraphs of text into the Google tasks app on the phone, the first paragraph would end up in the item / title field and the rest in the notes / description. If I can come up with an easy way of appending the Notes field text at the end of the Item field text in IQ, I'd be happy to drop Keep again.

Other than that, a very happy user here, thanks!

Hi Left !

The task position is available in the API, so I really like the idea of assigning it to a field, which users could sort if they want to !

Excellent news and what a quick reply! Another question: Say I have a group of items under an IQ parent, e.g. 'Garden / outside' tasks, for which no Google tasks list exists yet. Say I set the "Task list" field for these items to 'Garden' or somesuch. Will that create the list in Gtasks and sync the items (with the current date as todo date) or would I have to do more, e.g. first create the list in Gtasks and set todo date values in IQ as well? Thanks!

I'll write up detailed documentation today or tomorrow.

To ensure compatibility with more than 1 tasks server (i.e. MS Todo and others), sync works on task list name and does not create new list when syncing.

So new list need to be created on the server:
  • Open the Google Connect dialog to update the lists.
  • Opening the Google Connect dialog will also update the TaskList field value if lists are renamed (on the server)

Hi Pierre,

Is the idea of accessing the order of items / tasks in Google still on the radar?

Many thanks!

Correction on re-examinging the Gtasks app: When sharing a text selection in Android with the Google tasks app, the app seems to choose some kind of title and puts the selected text into the notes field, which is okay, I guess. What really annoys me is that when I press Return to enter a second line of text, the app will automatically move the cursor from the task title to the notes field, hence it's impossible to enter more than one line in that field. When pasting several paragraphs of text into the tasks sidebar in the browser interface, it will just create one task per paragraph, which is very likely not what the user wants! I will be checking out some third-party Android apps to see if any have a better approach than Google's own.

As for Microsoft, I haven't tried the app yet, but the browser interface simply cuts off any text after the first paragraph on pasting, so it doesn't work to collect snippets on the go to import into IQ either. :-(

When sharing on Android there is a "copy to clipboard" option. Would that meet your needs? Use that to copy, and then just manually enter the title in google tasks, then copy and past to the notes field.

For $5 this Windows app cannot be beat. Check out the screenshots. Works *perfectly* and will speed up your google tasks workflow 3x. http://www.gtask-for-desktop.com/

Thanks for your suggestions. It's just I'd like to use a single app on the phone that would allow me to both enter tasks but also paste up to a page of text into the same field without having to fiddling with titles or to worry about part of the text being cut off and then get the stuff synced to the desktop. Google Keep does this almost perfectly (except you can't manually sort / order notes when viewing them by contexts) but doesn't seem to offer any kind of API for syncing.

On the desktop end, now that IQ has sync capabilities, I don't think I want to use another tool and go back to copying and pasting into IQ...

(edit: text limit was incorrect)
Thank you for 0.9.115! I had been syncing stuff between devices with Simplenote, then copying into IQ. This is even better, going straight into IQ.
(There does appear to be a smaller text size limit in gtasks,  so I still use Simplenote for larger stuff).
I also am trying Gtask for Desktop, and it's working flawlessly.

Which game-changing feature is next?

 Hi Pierre,
I performed some tests (the loading time is really faster!), and realized that some of the issues regarding the DocPane discussed in the following thread were fixed/improved:
Specifically, the line breaks were being removed when plain text was pasted on the DocPane. Now the line breaks are there.
Also, the "HTML File" opened using "Edit with Microsoft Word" had the content shown on MS Word without the line breaks and presenting uneven spacing between the lines. Now, no problem at all.
The only issue that remains is when I copy the same text from IQ and paste it again into a text editor, there are new/additional line breaks that didn't exist in the original content.
=> Since I couldn't identify on the release notes any mention to the DocPane, have you fixed/improved it somehow with the v115f release?

Hi Carlos,

At times I don't take the time to record some bug fixes. The CR on paste one took quite a bit of time to fix, it should have been noted. It isn't perfect though. For example, if you paste in a list (bullet / numbered), the paste should not go as it should
I'll add these to the release notes. Thanks for reminding me !

Pierre, it happens every time I resume from sleep with my main database.  I tried minimizing the IQ window before sleeping, and also I tried closing and reopening the file before sleeping.  Still IQ crashed immediately after resume.

However when I closed my main database, opened only the "Welcome to IQ" database, and then put the laptop to sleep, IQ did not crash when I resumed from sleep.  So it seems to be something to do with my particular database.

Yes, I am using syncing with that file (using OneDrive rather than Dropbox).  I tried doing the Ctrl+S on that file before entering sleep mode, but iQ stiil "stopped working" immediately upon resuming.  The same thing happened on my Desktop, though I didn't get the "Infoqube has stopped working" messages" - the IQ window and taskbar button just disappeared.  Then back on the laptop, I copied 115e over 115f and the problem went away.   Just in case, I re-downloaded 115f portable and copied it over 115e again.  The problem came back.  Any suggestions?  I'm happy to help you in any way to figure this out.
