Five releases in two days. Amazed at your capability and passion, but this is clearly the project of a lifetime.

Yes it is... and sorry for these multiple releases

(actually, "Latest Builds" do not qualify as releases... Some users have requested the return of these Latest Builds and the consequence is what you've seen in the last few days)

Right, five builds. It's a privilege to see a masterwork in its creation, let alone a tool one has wished for for decades...whose designer solicits and implements suggestions, often with astonishing rapidity. Salud.

Latest build shouldn't cause any confusion or inconvenience & isn't mandatory. I think it's a good idea to  keep posting them as it is a sign of progress. Those who want to play w the latest can & those who don't, don't have to download.  I also think it's better for the developer because problems / issues / tweaks will be discovered sooner w a smaller # of users inconvenienced.  Just my .02 (now worth .01)

Keep up the good work, Pierre, and thanks for IQ

I ran across this tool about a year ago (I think?) and fell in love. I LOVED Ecco, just wanted a bit of an updated interface and continued support. That went away, but now, this could be it? I downloaded the latest build today and ran both the portable and installed versions. Both have the same issue. I paste some text copied from a web page (Firefox) into the HTML editor for any item. I then highlight some text and hit backspace and the program crashes. Actually, upon further testing, it seems just about anything (just typing text directly, even) in the HTML editor window crashes it. I really want to like this program and think it has serious potential. I would gladly pay $59, $79, heck, maybe even $99 for it once it's stable and working. Don't give up, it's a great product.

I followed your steps, using FF & back space had no (zero) effect on html selection. So I cannot confirm your report on my machine. Is it possible you have some macro program or other shortcut that is conflicting here?

What is the advantage of the installed version over the portable version?

It is a general guestion. I'm using the portable version, assuming all featrues are in sync, is there any reason to use the installed version?

None that I can think of at this stage. In the future, IQ is likely to be available as an ODBC server, a PDA conduit, etc., and installation will matter enormously.

I just noticed that InfoQube Program Install and Set-up explains the versions well.

There used be a problem associating SNDB files with the portable version - I just checked it and it seems to be fixed.
Portable is so much easier and is usually updated first :-) so . .
