I made a mess with my touchscreen

Submitted by jimspoon on 2021/12/29 15:07

Late at night with foggy brain, I thought I would scroll through an IQ grid by swiping my touchscreen.

A was the parent of B and B was the parent of C.  Somehow by my swiping, I made C the parent of B!  But somehow B was still the parent of C.  And A was no longer the parent of B.  So neither B nor C appeared under A anymore.  I used Live Search to find B again, and found both B and C there.  In the Search Grid, with context parents on, it now looked like this:

C

  B

    C

      B and so on.

A rough comparison of InfoQube and Notion

  • Richness of features
    Both are strong.
They have many similar features, like user definable columns, filtering, sorting and grouping (IQ's grouping is better), multiple views/grids, bi-directional links, favorites, IQ's multiple parents v.s Notions linked pages/databases, IQ's dashboard grid(very flexible) v.s Notion's board views, formulas, import & export ...

Problem - email password w/ synced file

Submitted by LM77 on 2021/08/22 11:57

I have an IQbase which I sync from my desktop to my laptop (via Dropbox) and vice versa (when traveling), and it uses my Outlook.com email address and password for Email to IQ functionality.

Strangely, though, when I sync the IQbase to my laptop, I have to reenter the email password; otherwise the Email to IQ functionality doesn't work. (I.e. when I try to check for emails I get an error message). Then, after syncing the iQ base back to my desktop, the same thing happens, and once again i have to re-enter the email password to make this functionality work.

View > History - Back and Forward commands - what do they do?

Submitted by jimspoon on 2021/07/01 12:36

I just discovered the View > History > Back and Forward commands and I'd like to understand what they do and don't do.  Last night I used the Back key (Ctrl+Shift+left) repeatedly to see what it does, along with the Forward key (Ctrl+Shift+right)

So far I can see that they move the focus from item to item within the same open grid.  Also they can change the current grid and focus on an item in the previously / subsequently viewed grid.  Will these commands reopen a closed grid?

Changing default.css has no effect

Submitted by DavidF on 2021/04/28 15:16

I'm trying to make some changes to how the Document Pane is formatted, and finding no matter how much I change default.css, it has no effect. Any other style sheet I try, e.g. bubblegum, gray etc, I can make changes and see them reflected in the document, at least after I've reselected the style sheet.

I have default.css specified in Options as my default style sheet.

Not sure if this is a bug as this is not an area I'm familiar with.

Text formatting in Floating Editor

Submitted by DavidF on 2021/04/16 12:07

hi,

I've been using the Floating Editor (ctrl-E) more recently, I find it handy when I want to have occasional access to the Document Pane for an item, but keep an overall view of the Grid. But there are some things it lacks compared to the Document Pane. E.g. text formatting. You can't independently set a format without selecting the text first. That is, I can't just press ctrl-i and have the next thing I type be italic, I have to type it first, then select it, then press ctrl-i.
