I don't know if this is really a problem worthy of action, but if I've done this once, I've done it 30 times:

1) Load column set

2) Since column sets don't preserve column groups, start grouping columns to re-create correct column layout.

3) Group columns won't  work.  When group command is initiated, the selection is lost and no action is taken.

The first time this happened, I almost posted a thread after spending several minutes trying to get the group command to work.

Suggestion 1: Add hierarchy view to Manage Grids Dialogue

This is the same function presently in the "All Fields" section of the properties pane.  Fields can be shown in an alphabetical list or in an outline that you can edit.

Provides a simple way to organize and find grids.  For example, 1) group grids by topic headers; 2) hide little-used grids; 3) hide large sets of grids that would otherwise clutter the view.

Text = White

Item Back Color = [some dark color]

Can't edit white text normally because when you enter edit mode the background turns white and the text disappears.

Suggestion: have text colors switch to black during edit mode.

White text is usually a bad idea for readability but I'm finding it useful sometimes to combine it with a bold fill color to make a header stand out.

It would be nice if the prefix of Tag groups could be hidden. For example, in the example below, the prefix "Tag: Rich_tags:" would be hidden in the Item text:

Couple of minor suggestions for the Add Column dialogue:

1) Allow the Description column to be edited so a column can be added and described in one operation.

Steps saved: 1) close "Add Column" dialogue; 2) open "Field Properties"; 3) find field.

2) Allow a field to be opened in the field dialogue for further editing (eg right-click>open in "Field Properties").  This could be a substitute for #1.  Has advantage of allowing full field editing, instead of just the description.

Now that we have a quick way of creating inline item links by typing [[, it occurs me that the same interface (with the pop-up search window) could be adapted to create a quick way to transclude other items, or, in other words, add another item as a child of the current item.

Such an indicator, perhaps similar to the recurrence symbol shown in the calendar would be helpful for me. Perhaps there should also be an indicator if the item has child items and / or parents?

When focus is on the grid, the letter keys are sadly neglected (no use at all, except to start editing and output that character first in the edit box). Below is my proposal of a left-hand navcluster to make the most-used item commands available in an easy-to-remember spatial layout. This is working Autohotkey code:

One for the wishlist: I wish I could define separate sort and filter criteria for each level shown in the grid.  I now use the source bar, and have to invent combinations of filters and sorts so that each level shows the items that I want.  Where it goes wrong is at the lower items levels, it filters out items that I want to keep because it is applying a higher level filter.  Using "| "to filter sub-items is an all-or nothing toggle.

Clicking to the right of existing text = cursor goes to end of text (instead of beginning)

When editing, I usually, want to place the cursor at the end of the existing text.  I used to do that by double-clicking in the open space to the right of the text.  Now that puts me at the beginning of the text instead of the end.

To start at the end, you have to precisely place the cursor at the end of the text.  If you're off by the tiniest amount to the right, the cursor goes to the beginning of the text.
