I've realized that I don't really understand what it means when we say that Infoqube can sync with external databases.  From what I have read it seems that Infoqube will retrieve data from an external database via an SQL command (SELECT statement?).  I'm guessing that IQ puts each retrieved row into a separate IQ item, and each retrieved column into a an IQ field according to a specified mapping.  So, if you do the same sync later, if the query issued to the external database returns more rows, additional IQ items will be created accordingly.  And previously created IQ items will remain the same except for changed data in fields?  Of course this would assume some method of correlating the rows returned from the external database to the items already synced into IQ.

 

From what I read it seems that the sync is one-way - changes to the data in the external database are synced into IQ, but changes to the data in IQ are not synced back

Hi IQ Users,

When I do a file search with the program "Locate", I can manually select files in the hit list and remove them.  The removal stays in force until I perform a new search.

 

I use this command all the time.  It's especially useful when the search generates a large number of spurious hits.  In that case, I quickly select large blocks of irrelevant files and remove them from the view to clear the clutter and make it easier to home in on better candidates.

 

I think this might be a useful tool to add to InfoQube searches.  Of course, let me know if there's already a way to do this that I don't know about.

I have ended up in a place I often seem to with IQ - too much clicking and not enough knowledge. I have turned on Group by Column, without meaning to or knowing what it is. Now I see what it is I have to say it looks pretty cool, however I would like to turn off, and can't work out how.

I have a grid with seven columns. Selecting blocks of items and contiguous columns does not work as it does in Excel. The middle columns are not selected. This happens if I use Shift + Click to select a block of CTRL + Click to individually select. I think this worked before. I am trying to copy / paste selected columns into a text document.

I'm having problems getting subitems sorted the way I want them.

 

What I'm starting off with is a grid (Bibliography) showing books as TLI, with chapters as subitems.Some of these chapters/subitems have an entry in the Code field:

 

I suppose with added functionality, such as the Home Page, the options.ini and settings.ini change a bit.

So when I want to upgrade the new version I cannot really just copy/paste my customization folder and run it or can I?

I have read in another topic just today something about using "ctrl+spacebar" (maybe misread it :)). After trying it out, it didn't work, neither did just "spacebar".

I mentioned before that I use "new tab" to create multiple views of the same grid.  I no longer see this command in the grid context menu nor in the pulldown menus.  Did this get changed somehow or am I just not seeing it?

I'm assuming this is a bug.  If I select Grid > Source Bar, shouldn't the source bar setting be remembered?

 

I've also tried Grid > Save just in case but no difference.
