Grid Navigation Feature Request w/ Screenshot

Submitted by David_H on 2015/12/03 14:02
Pierre,
I've been requesting a better way to manage and navigate grids for, I think, about 7 years now :).  Maybe if I make it an easier request to implement using the current paradigm I can get you to do it .  Could you implement something, like in the attached image?

I know Armando and other users have agreed something like this would be very useful.

Think about it, the extreme beauty of IQ is in the flexibility of how information can be stored and categorized with so much flexibility, along with powerful multi-level outlining.  Yet when it comes to grids, the entity that helps us to categorize our information, it's essentially a flat system with little flexibility.  My screenshot idea would allow us to arrange and categorize our grids in ways that are meaningful to us.  F

Properties pane stuff

- properties pane tab size always changes

Not a bug per se, but the continual size change when going from one item to  the other makes it harder to visualize. Maybe the text displayed in the tab could be truncated after the 30 first chars (or whatever seems good) and remain at the same size?

- When on autohide mode, if a pane is pined and unpined, it can change place with the other pane

It's not a huge deal, but , on autohide mode (maybe other modes too, don't know)

1- if I set the properties pane tab vertically (right side of IQ window) above the HTML pane tab,
2- pin the properties pane tab and unpin it,
3- the properties pane tab now moves under the other tab.

Images not working in HTML pane is a recurrent problem

Submitted by WayneK on 2015/12/02 12:41
I'm starting a new thread just to try to get visibility for a recurrent problem that never seems to get conclusively resolved.  I'm utterly frustrated trying to put images in the HTML pane.  It's just not reliable and is repeatedly undermining my attempts to use InfoQube for research.  Having images in the HTML pane is a big part of my method and it's becoming increasingly difficult to have any confidence in it.  Over and over, I have to stop work and spend big chunks of time trying to fix image displays.

The recent thread about images not displaying is just the latest episode.  It petered out without a resolution and no answer to my final question.  In this case, as in others, InfoQube was working fine, then for some reason just stops working.  In this case, the images started displaying as black boxes.  I hadn't changed any settings or started doing anything differently.  It just stopped working out of

Group / ungroup columns bugs

Submitted by Armando on 2015/12/02 01:02
Hi Pierre,

The column grouping doesn't work well enough for day to day usage. As soon as I group several sets of columns, things start to get weird.

Apart from that, the feature has a lot of potential. I like it -- I don't know if others have had the courage to test it, but it's fun and practical. A bit like the field hierarchies, it's great to group sub-columns under one main column and only expend it when needed. But since doing all that convenient grouping takes time (moving the columns around, creating groups etc.) it needs to be robust.

I'll try to be as precise as possible, but I don't have enough time to test thoroughly.

1- Sample DB, invoice grid

2- Select : InvoiceID, From, To  : group under InvoiceID

3- Select : HrsRate, Duration, Billable : group under HrsRate

Using IQ on a Microsoft Surface PC

Microsoft Surfaces...

The Microsoft Surface line of computers are *really* nice PCs...

Whether it be good old Surface Pro 3 Tablet or the spanking new Surface Pro 4 or Surface Book PC, all are state of the art machines.
What better match can there be to match these with a "best in class", "state of the art" software... InfoQube

Calendar Suggestion + Question

Submitted by David_H on 2015/11/30 19:47
One of the features one of the PIM's I used years ago had that I found incredible was the ability to create a background layer for the calendar that was a template for each day.  It wasn't about specific things you'd be working on each day, but rather a template of your day if you will, into which you then scheduled your actual events.  I found it useful and still use something like that to this day, but finally ended up just throwing it into an Excel spreadsheet, since Outlook does not support such a thing in any elegant way.  I've attached an example.

Obviously such items could be entered as actual events on the calendar, but that screws everything up, you've got to create recurring events for every day of the year, and end up with a huge list of events that are not things you actually do, and the actual real events entered in those times creates two events side by side.  I realize this is a specialized request that most users might

Grouping Fields

Submitted by David_H on 2015/11/29 21:29
Under "All Fields" many fields are grouped, and there is a little icon on the right of the bar that allows them to be viewed in a flat list, or in a hierarchy.

1. How are they grouped?  The manual claims they can be dragged and dropped, but If I try that it looks like it is going to work, but never does.  www.sqlnotes.net/drupal5/index.php

2. Can there be multiple levels of grouping?

Thanks
