Popup for invalid conditional formatting criteria : appears even when valid (but... Read on...)

Submitted by Armando on 2010/06/02 19:20
As I said, this popup appears quite often in my DB, even when the conditional criteria seems to be valid.

But I think I know why : sometimes , a field appears in a grid, but the condition isn't there in the grid (remember : this is a limitation/feature of the conditional formatting : the field-condition needs to be present as a column  in the grid for the  conditional format to work)

So, taking the example in the screenshot : the Followup field will be formatted only if the zzSQLNRequest columns/field is present in the grid.

What would be the ideal UI for item/grid filtering in IQ ?

What would be the ideal UI (user interface) for item (displayed in grids) filtering in IQ ?

When IQ is performing an Auto-Backup : "Performing Auto-Backup" popup/dialog could inform user

When DB is big, it takes several seconds to perform an auto-backup. While this happens, IQ freezes. If IQ is going to freeze, a popup should inform the user a a backup is being performed.

(I'm also wondering if that backup could be less intrusive ? If yes, maybe the popup would be unecessary)

When copyying/pasting items between 2 DB a confirmation/waiting message should be displayed.

"Nothing happens", in terms of feedback, when items are copied from one DB to another.
I think that users should probably be shown a dialog or a message telling the user that "items are being copied" or something like that.

(Note that I noticed that more and more messages like that have been included to the UI in the last 6 months, and I like it a lot -- much more user friendly)

Opinions ?

if "negative condition" is used in the filter text box (e.g. WikiTag not like ",,," ) "null" occurences are omitted in results.

(This is an oldie, from late 2008 -- still "spring cleaning" my list  :) )

Hard to summarize the problem in the title.

Steps:

1- filter : category not like "*tgsPtral tgsPsupe*"
2- Grid won't show items which have nothing in the category field.

Not a bug per se but a bit disconcerting. No ?
Opinions ?

I know that the filters UI might evolve, but mentioning it just in case.

(This is similar to another issue Tom noted with Boolean fields and filtering -- not sure if it was ever put in Mantis)

HTML export : MHT content is only exported /visible in browser (if "Copy to clipboard" and pasted in Word : no MHT content)

Submitted by Armando on 2010/06/01 23:12
Time for my weekly bug reports ;).

I thought this one was already in Mantis, but no. Steps to reproduce :

1- Select a bunch of items with MHT content (not embedded content)
2- ctrl-p --> export to HTML --> Copy to clipboard.
3- Open Word processor (MS Word)
4- paste : Only the item and other fields content will be pasted. No HTML pane content.

Note that if you save the export as an HTML file and try to open it in Word, the same problem arises. The MHT content is only visible in a browser -- I guess it's ok if you don't intend to make any edition (or if you plan to use an HTML editor) but ...

Waiting for confirmation. Thanks

Could the private forum be marked as "private" (or something like that -- colour change ?) in the "What's New" section ?

Submitted by Armando on 2010/05/31 23:07
The reason I'm as asking is that it's impossible to know in which forum (public or private) is something posted. It's not a huge deal, but it would help to know.
(E.g. : let's say I'm posting something in a "private tread", thinking that everybody will see it... It could take a while to realize that only 5 of us will read it.)

In any case, it would be nice if there could be a way to identify these private sections so that we know where we are at a glance.

Opinions ?

Date Toolbar : wouldn't it be better if its settings were NOT applied as soon as it's activated/visible?

Submitted by Armando on 2010/05/30 21:52

The reason I'm asking is that the process of using the date toolbar is slower than it should...
I find it time consuming to  :

1- activate the date toolbar,
2-  wait for my grid to refresh according to the current (usually obsolete) date toolbar settings,
3- adjust the settings,
4- and then reapply the setting (hit refresh button on the date toolbar).

Rarely am I always using the same settings over and over, and so the first few seconds of waiting for the grid refresh etc.
