Default values in the calendar appointment recurrence dialog

Submitted by Jibz on 2010/05/10 02:45
It would be nice if the values in the recurrence pattern part defaulted to values based on the event being created.

The reason I noticed it was that I was creating a bunch of yearly events and it seemed illogical that it would default to the current date instead of the date of the appointment being made.

Calendar month view not showing entire month

Submitted by Jibz on 2010/05/10 02:37
For some months, the month view in the calendar does not show all days on screen. While this may be related to screen size (I am running at 1280x1024), it would be nice if the view scaled so all days were visible.

An example is the current month (May 2010), where the month view shows from April 26th to May 30th, but not May 31st.

And don't get me started on what happens if I click the various up and down arrows on the date .. for instance pressing up on month goes to a view that shows from May 24th to June 27th.

Juxtaposed (vert./hori.) grids : option selection in column context menu of *non* active grid : affects the active grid

Submitted by Armando on 2010/05/09 22:04
If I right click on a column header in a grid that's not active (e.g. : 2 vertically tiled grids), and select an option (like "Word Wrap"), it will affect the active grid, not the one in which I right clicked.

Weird. It's a potentially pretty important problem because one could completely disrupt the sorting of a grid trying to sort the content of another one.

Date Roulette

Submitted by Jibz on 2010/05/04 04:05
I am sorry, but despite the enticing subject this is not a concept for a new TV show but rather my first adventures with the IQ calendar .

So .. I open the calendar, and it's on the current date in the week view (Tue 4th of May 2010). I wanted to go to September 3rd, so I clicked on the '4' in the navigation panel at the top where the tooltip read "Click to select date".

I moved to September and clicked '3', and to my surprise that immediately put me on August 30th. Ok, I thought, I'll just use the arrows to set the date and month instead. So I pressed the up arrow on "aug" to get to September, and that put me at September 27th.

HTML Help version of the manual?

Submitted by Jibz on 2010/05/04 03:15
I was wondering if it would be possible to provide a HTML Help (CHM) version of the InfoQube User Manual?

I've been browsing through it, and it looks like it would be a great help in getting into IQ, but this site is so painfully slow it's annoying to read it online.

The stuff inside the Welcome grid in the sample database is nice, but it's not ideal having to swap back and forth between that and whatever grid you are trying to apply the information to.

I searched for it of course, and read the suggestions about saving the printer friendly version, but chm is a far better format with it's index and search functionality.

Also, I bet a lot of users who first install IQ will quickly move to the 'Help' menu and only find 'About' there
.

Replace the current content with the page: about:blank

Submitted by Jibz on 2010/05/04 03:02
Hey,

Let me start off by saying I am one of the people who really want to like IQ. The concept behind it seems great, but I've been turned away by the complexity of the implementation of it in the past. Anyway, I am trying it again, and just installed the latest portable version.

I created a new database with sample data, and started to click my way through the Welcome grid when I got a dialog saying "Replace the current content with the page: about:blank?".

This seemed slightly strange, so I proceeded to click around between the items in the Welcome grid and the dialog seems to appear more or less randomly when switching. It doesn't seem to matter if I press yes or no.

Just wanted to let you know, since it doesn't induce the greatest confidence as a first impression to get random warnings.
