This explanation seems strange to me.

In the IQ manual : -- link to nonexistent node ID 860 --

This seems a bit weird :

"All the information is stored in a database. In the database, there are multiple fields which are divided in items. The fields is the "subject" you're working on (i.e. shopping list) and the items are the different lines contained in the field (i.e. things to buy)."

If I knew nothing about IQ I think it would be clearer if somebody told me :

"All the information in IQ is stored in a database. In the database, there are multiple items which can have different characteristics recorded in fields.

Is the "views" toolbar always accessible on a new IQ installation ?

Submitted by Armando on 2010/07/13 22:05
Here, on my IQ "installation" (portable), the views toolbar entry is always present in the toolbar context menu (right click on toolbars) -- it was recently added as a "permanent" toolbar there.

However, yesterday, I installed IQ on somebody else's computer (latest version), removed the views toolbar for fun, and the entry disappeared from the toolbar context menu... I tried the same thing on my computer, but the "views" entry is always presennt. I wonder why.

Anybody else ?

Locked items

Submitted by Jon on 2010/07/13 21:06
I think I asked this a while back. As I understand this feature, locking an item merely prevents it's deletion. In my opinion, locking should not allow deletion, AND not allow changes to an item. Ecco Pro with the extension add-on has a lock feature that might be worth a look. What do others think?

Forms

Submitted by mknjlaw on 2010/07/13 00:15
Hi,

I am trying to create forms to use as child items for the psychological principles I am inserting as items in the Psychological Principles Grid.

Question # 1. Should I create the bibliography grid first with the fields and then create the form to be used to input records in the bibliography grid?
Question # 2. Using the forms manager I was able to create the bibliography form without first creating the grid to which it is related. I then when to the fields manager and created fields for the form but they did not appear in the drop down in the Form Manager to insert fields into the grid. Moreover I was not able to drag and drop fields from fields manager to forms manager.

Possible dangerous situation - needs confirmation

Submitted by jan_rifkinson on 2010/07/12 11:09
The following are the steps I took to the best of my recollection

I wrote an article draft in HTML pane while docked
I copied this item & pasted creating a new item w identical date in HTML pane
I detached HTML pane, i.e. floating
I updated draft in this manner
I dragged pane back to it's original docked position
the changes I made to draft did not end up in docked HTML pane

Workaround: HTML menu > File > save before re-docking

Can someone confirm this.

Field type: Image or Blob

Submitted by gcoulthard on 2010/07/12 01:14
Is there any word on whether an image or blob field type will be added to InfoQube?

I do not want to store my ID photos in the HTML pane (or as hyperlinks to image files on the disk). Also, I'd like the opportunity to embed a small file within each IQ record.

Just wondering if this is on the horizon at all.

Thanks -- Glen

I've reported this before, I'm told it's not a bug but.......

I've followed directions which have not fixed my problem.

Problem: how new HTML doc can be set for the font & font size I want instead of the default.
Attached zipped folder contains the following elements

png #1, directory / folder / file selected to alter, i.e. 'new_html'
png #2, contents of above file altered as instructed (I think)
video, content of view html code in IQ HTML pane (doesn't reflect changes)

Now what?

Grids display problem

Submitted by Armando on 2010/07/11 01:48
This was first noticed when dragging file from explorer, and it was fixed. Thanks.

But there are still situations where Grid display goes havoc.

I still don't know how to reproduce it, but it happened several times today and yesterday. The only cure is to close and restart the grid. But I've also had to restart IQ as after 2 grid close/restart -- I couldn't open the grid anymore.

If some of you notice that problem and you know what you did before, please post here.

Thanks.

P.S. : Here are situations where it happened to me :

- Show-All sub items (alt-left click)
- Collapse up to the parent (ctrl-shift-"-" )
- Pasting of several lines from, as different items in IQ ("creating items as necessary")

can't figure out smart field / folder equation for auto assignment

Submitted by jan_rifkinson on 2010/07/10 18:11
In Equations
AM:GTD_Pndg=HasKeyword(Item,"Lmsg",-1)|E:GTD_Pndg=|AM:GTD_FoloUp=HasKeyword(Item,"call",-1)|E:GTD_FoloUp=|AM:Movie=HasKeyword(Item,"Movie",-1)IE:Movie=

If an item has the word "Lmsg", GTD_Png is marked yes (this works)
If an item has the word "call", GTD_Foloup is marked yes (this works)
If an item has the word "Movie", Movie is marked yes (this does NOT work)

closed / reopened IQ for testing
Why doesn't the 3rd auto assignment work? TIA
