This explanation seems strange to me.

This seems a bit weird :
"All the information is stored in a database. In the database, there are multiple fields which are divided in items. The fields is the "subject" you're working on (i.e. shopping list) and the items are the different lines contained in the field (i.e. things to buy)."
If I knew nothing about IQ I think it would be clearer if somebody told me :
"All the information in IQ is stored in a database. In the database, there are multiple items which can have different characteristics recorded in fields.
