 Hi IQ Users !

Version 0.9.26PreRel14 is now available. Lots of new features.

However, the new Calendar module is not yet fully functional, so users which require a functional calendar should continue using v0.9.26PreRel13.

In this release:
  • New: Properties Pane: F7 and F8 moves the focus to the previous/next item in the grid (same as in the HTML Pane).
  • New: Fast Search Refresh button
  • New: When an item has multiple parents and the user changes the main parent, the grids will update and show the new main parent (if Show context parents are enabled)
  • New: Main items can now be moved up / down in a grid (when sorting is disabled of course)
  • New: Grid now updates when a parent-child relationship is broken (this can be done in the properties pane)
  • New: Auto-Recalc is only started after 30 seconds after opening the file
  • New: A dialog to postpone the Auto-Recalc for 1 hour
  • New: When background Auto-Recalc is running, double-click on the status bar will prompt to postpone it for 1 hour
  • New: New Calendar: Can now add / modify / delete events
  • New: New Calendar: Can have multiple instances of the calendar with different views (day, week, month, etc.)
  • New: Mark as Done (Ctrl+M) is now enabled for the following views: Calendar, MapView and Fast Search (and of course all grids !)
  • New: Could items hyperlinks open items in their "homegrid" instead of the scratch grid ?
  • New: Easy multi-column filtering. Simply hit Ctrl-G and enter filter. Filter will search all grid columns. To limit the filter to specific columns, select 2 or more columns before filtering. Filter prompt at the bottom of the grid supports "Filter as you type".
  • New: Grid summary now shown at the top of the grid. Grid summary gives information regarding items displayed in the grid, including filtering and sorting
  • Fixed: Fast Search was not updated if an item is erased
  • Fixed: Fast Search did not support changes to multiple items using the property pane
  • Fixed: Workspace selected tab was not shown in bold
  • Fixed: Removing a child item was not triggering parent item recalc
  • Fixed: Properties Pane: Pressing the space bar on a read-only field could change its value
  • Fixed: Grids: Removing Hoist left the source and filter text boxes disabled. A refresh was necessary to re-enable them
  • Fixed: HTML: Caption was not updated on startup when pane in auto-hide mode
  • Fixed: Deleting items sometimes did not delete associated events in the Calendar
  • Fixed: Hoisted scratch grid prevents new data to be seen
  • Other: Faster startup
  • Other: Faster / smarter update of the properties pane
  • Other: Faster IQBase repair
  • Other: Faster loading of grids (in particular grids with many columns)
  • Other: By default, grids will no longer be visible by other programs, to improve performance. A new grid property "Visible to other applications" can be used to make it visible
  • Other: Improved grid column filters
  • Other: Filter as you type now only applied to text and numeric columns

And, usual, enjoy an additional 90 days of free use !

Great !

As an ex-EccoPro user, you'll appreciate that you can now move items to your liking !

Cheers !

Thanks Pierre, just had a quick look. Looking good!
Search + p.pane bug is fixed
F7/F8 in the p.pane doesnt seem to be working in Win8 though - does work as expected in HTML pane. (Installed version)

Re F7/F8 : perhaps you need to reset your keyboard shortcut (or manually set the shortcuts to Grid > Goto > Next item

I have the feeling that this release is really the best of the best. Everything seems to work and the performance has vastly improved.

The difference is huge with my 410 MB DB and complex grids. We're talking about a 2-3x speed increase for grid loading, hoisting, DB loading etc. This is absolutely fantastic. Not to mention compacting and repairing : this is probably close to 5x faster!

Other additions help a lot too : the multiple scratch grids, hyperlinks opening in their home grid (when grid name is specified in the itemHomeGrid field, the auto-recalc postponing, etc. Also... the multiple column filtering is a great idea!  It works really well and is convenient.

Everything is more fluid, including the properties pane refreshing... Nice!

Now, for the Properties Pane: F7 and F8 moves the focus to the previous/next item in the grid (same as in the HTML Pane) : yes, as Tom suggested, it probably won't work for most users by default.

Here's what I did :

- Right click on a toolbar -> customize
- Select "Keyboard" tab
- Select the "Grid" category.
- Assign some shortcuts to the "Next item" and the "Previous item" commands... (it could be anything, but I put F7 and F8 since those should be the  default ones and already work while in the HTML pane)

That's it : you can now navigate in the grid while keeping the focus in the properties pane (convenient for copying or editing values without going back and forth between the grid and the pane).

Anyway : thanks Pierre ! We're getting closer.

Hi Pierre.

It all sounds great BUT I use the calendar. So I daren't even test the new version - as far as I know, there's no sure way to revert versions, but please tell me that I am wrong.

And my existing version of InfoQube expires in three days time...

What do you recommend that users like me do? What exactly (yes, I know...) doesn't work in the new calendar? Is there any danger of data loss associated with moving to Pre-Rel 14?

 Hi Mark,

IQ Bases are backward compatible, so you can try it.
I'll also update v0.9.26PreRel13 to extend the trial period

I've now updated v0.9.26PreRel12 and extended it with another 90 days of free use.

As for a fully working Calendar, expect it in just a few more days

Pierre:

When opening every grid in practically all of my databases, I get an error message about the source being incorrect. If I revert to 13, all databases open and all grids are opening as expected. Did you change something? Why should this happen in 14, but it is OK in 13 and earlier?

I don't know what the problem was. I tried  repairing with no positive results. I removed the portable install and unzipped the download. Fired IQ up and it worked fine.

Thank you for your help.

I've had similar problems once, when for some reasons the unzipped files didn't properly overwrite the old files. I think it was because I didn't unzip the whole archive or something like that.

I wonder about other users :is it just me and my heavy database or... the speed increase (grid opening/refreshing, IQ opening, etc.) is generally dramatic for everyone else? I mean, for certain grids the opening is actually probably 10x quicker! Hoisting is now so smooth, almost instantaneous. And so it's not just grids with lots of columns that benefit from the speed increase : any grid with fewer items also opens much much faster. It makes closing and reopening them a light task; something I don't have to think twice about anymore.

Hi Armando !

I'm very happy to hear that the new version is so much faster for you. I did a lot of work behind the scene.

Thanks for taking the time to comment and stay tuned for more !

a big +1 to this

I surely dont push IQ as much as Armando, but it does feel much more responsive -- and 'solid' too.
(Also, I love the new bar that shows above grid with summary of contents and sort, that makes thing a lot clearer.)
