I've run into my first serious problem.  I just lost a chunk of work I'd completed in the HTML pane.  This is what happened.

1) I was taking notes in the HTML pane using bulleted lists.  I found a table in a pdf that I wanted to incorporate into my notes.

2) I did a screen capture of the table, and copy/pasted it into the HTML pane as a bullet item.

3) I tried to re-size the table by grabbing one of the handles on the image but InfoQube would not let me re-size it (I'll post the image problem as a separate issue).

4) I created a new "test" item and pasted the image there just to see if I'd have any better luck with it, but it wouldn't re-size in the new HTML pane, either.

5) I decided to re-start InfoQube to see if that would help.  I'm pretty sure I saved the file before closing IQ but I believe IQ is supposed to do an automatic save on closing.

6) I re-started InfoQube.  The test item I'd created was missing.  In addition, the notes I'd taken over the past half hour were gone from the HTML pane.  These were the notes where I'd pasted the image.

7) I tried to retrieve my notes using the backup file.  I didn't really know what I was doing but I renamed the backup file names to ",SNDB" so they could be opened.

8) None of the backup files had my lost work.  Interestingly, one of them did have the test item which was created after the missing notes, but the notes themselves were still gone.

9) I've confirmed that the notes are gone by doing searches for words that were in the notes.

This is going to be another one of those problems that can't be re-created.  I can't help but think it had something to do with pasting the image into my notes, especially since that's a new feature.

Any suggestions on how to retrieve my lost notes would be appreciated but it's probably going to be easier to just re-type them.

Thanks, Wayne

HI Wayne,

This is a serious issue and I'll look into it in details.

In the meantime, you can set auto-save to 1 minute (Tools > Options > Program Settings > General > Other > HTML Pane autosave delay).

This way, if it occurs again, you won't loose much work.

Pierre,

Thanks for the suggestion.  I've re-set the save time but I'm not sure that would have helped.

1) I saved before exiting InfoQube, so apparently the text had already been lost at that point.  If I back up every minute and I don't know that text has been lost, it's only going to back up versions with the text missing.

2) The save time was set at 10 minutes but I lost more than 10 minutes of work.

3) Oddly, the backup file saved an item that was created AFTER the missing text.  No idea how that could happen.

I just re-created all the steps that led to the problem:

1) I took notes in the HTML pane using bullet formatting.
2) I captured a table in a PDF file using FS Capture.
3) I inserted the captured table into the bulleted list in the HTML pane
4) I re-sized the captured image to make it smaller.

Everything went ok.  It's a little awkward to pick the handles on the image because it fills the HTML pane out to the bottom and right edges, but
everything worked the way it should.  I inserted a second image with no problem, also.  I then exited and re-opened InfoQube.  Everything is
still OK.
