in a new file - I have been working on it a bit, adding loads of fields, changing grid names etc.

in the WorkDone grid
the field/column at the end always takes up the full space available so it's contents - if aligned centered or to right - show way over

it doesnt matter what field I show at the end, this always happens

It's a sample grid I'm working on for the blog here so I could send it to you Pierre if that would help

Possibly related:
Renamed WorkDone to _WorkDone and changed it back again (see Is a field allowed to start with an underscore ? - gets error)

Comments

could it be related to this setting ?

anyone know how to turn that on/off (I dont know what it's called so cant search ...)

EDIT/ hmm, it's getting worse - if I drag right edge of Duration field (see screenshot) the InvoiceID column gets smaller - it's unusable like that...

It it the grid>auto-size width setting?  6. Manage Grids Dialog needs updated for that if so.  I'm thinking we need something else in the documentation, like "common problems" or something like that

Yes,
that's it Keith - well, that's what was causing the bug/problem.
But not what affects the behaviour in my second post there

When I turn that off anyways the problem goes - first time I've experienced this but I probably usually have this setting off
It seems to have turned itself on with the new file ...

or I think you may have updated it already? - there's no revisions visible for that page ...
or were you thinking of adding the screenshot there?

Troubleshooting page could be changed to "Troubleshooting & common problems" ?
I could add it there

Let me know what you think

[I should clarify the autosize actually works quite well - it was only when I was trying to resize the columns that the last one was huge & I couldnt reduce it - but, this should be documented for people who might have the same problem in figuring out what's going on]

I'd like to see a text blurb on #17 on that page to give an idea of what it is; then decide if a screenshot is needed

I like that idea. I didn't even realize there was a troubleshooting page.

Can you repeat?  I've re-read this thread and still don't know what you'd like to know...

1)  my first problem was with Auto-size width -
It was on by default in the new file WorkDone grid & I couldnt understand what was happening as I had never used it. So that's resolved.

2) in screenshot, see the way the "Duration" column header jumps over the others - I cant remember (or find)- can that behaviour be turned off?

OK, got it.

Change the width of the duration column or uncheck Grid > properties > Columns > Multi-level column headers
